Effect of Methylene Blue on glutamate and reduced glutathione of rabbit erythrocytes.

چکیده
Methylene Blue injected into rabbits resulted in increased glutamate, reduced glutathione and pyrrolid-2-one-5-carboxylate in erythrocytes. The increase in reduced glutathione was probably due to increased glutamate changing the feedback control of glutathione on gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase.

Effectiveness of Methylene Blue in the Prevention of Stifle Joint Arthrofibrosis in Rabbit Models
Background: One of the major challenges in orthopedic surgery is the prevention of arthrofibrosis, which can besuccessfully alleviated in its early stages. Many studies suggest the administration of methylene blue (MB) as anaccessible and effective agent for the prevention of post-operation adhesions. The purpose of this study was to evaluatethe efficacy of MB in the preventio...
متن کاملMethylene Blue Prevents Post-Surgical Adhesion Formation in the Rabbit
Peritoneal adhesions are challenging in abdominal surgery. In spite of different kinds of treatments still no definitive and effective treatment is suggested. To determine the prevention effects of intraperitoneal (ip) methylene blue in post surgical adhesion formation 44 rabbits were randomly divided in two groups of equal number. Group I received an intra peritoneal injection of a 1% suspensi...
متن کاملMorphological and Morphometric Variations of Erythrocyte in Clarias Gariepinus, Bufo Bufo and Agama Agama Using Some Histological Stains
Introduction: Erythrocytes are highly specialized and the most abundant cell type in vertebrates’ blood. Their main function is the transportation of oxygen to tissues of the body via hemoglobin. Methods: The study was aimed at evaluating erythrocyte morphology in Clarias gariepinus (Cg), Bufo bufo (Bb), and Agama agama (Aa) using different stains; Also, morphometric analysis of erythrocyte w...
متن کاملMetabolic effects of antisickling amounts of nitrogen and nor-nitrogen mustard on rabbit and human erythrocytes.
Nitrogen mustard (NH2) and Nor-nitrogen mustard (Nor-HN2) both inhibit the polymerization of deoxyhemoglobin S in solution and in intact erythrocytes. Metabolic studies were undertaken to determine the feasability of an extracorporeal treatment with these or related agents. Glucose utilization, hexose monophosphate shunt activity, methemoglobin reduction, and incubation with acetylphenylhydrazi...
متن کاملCyclophosphamide-Induced Lipid Peroxidation and Changes in Cholesterol Content: Protective Role of Reduced Glutathione
The study was designed with an aim to evaluate the protective effects of reduced glutathione on cyclophosphamide induced lipid peroxidation and also changes in cholesterol content. Goat liver and white New Zealand rabbit were used as lipid source for the models. Lipid peroxidation study was performed by measuring the malondial...
