چکیده

Sets of non-intersecting, monotonic lattice paths, or xed routings, provide a common representation for several combinatorial problems and have been the key element for designing sampling algorithms. Markov chain algorithms based on routings have led to eecient samplers for tilings, Eulerian orientations 8] and triangulations 9], while an algorithm which successively calculates ratios of determinants has led to a very fast method for sampling xed routings 12]. We extend Wil-son's determinant algorithm 12] to sample free routings where the number of paths, as well as the endpoints, are allowed to vary. The algorithm is based on a technique due to Stembridge for counting free routings by calculating the Pfaaan of a suitable matrix 11] and a method of Colbourn, Myrvold and Neufeld 1] for eeciently calculating ratios of determinants. As an application, we show how to sample tilings on pla-nar lattice regions with free boundary conditions.

Sampling on Lattices with Free Boundary Conditions Using Randomized Extensions

Many statistical physics models are defined on an infinite lattice by taking appropriate limits of finite lattice regions, where a key consideration is how the boundaries are defined. For several models on planar lattices, such as 3-colorings and lozenge tilings, efficient sampling algorithms are known for regions with fixed boundary conditions, where the colors or tiles around the boundary are...

The higher frequency transient signals generated as a result of a power system fault or disturbance provide the basis for an alternative approach to power system containing connectors and cables result in unsuitable operation of the system. However one major challenge is the need to ensure that the transients to be neutralized by electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues and cabling routes. T...

Influences of Small-Scale Effect and Boundary Conditions on the Free Vibration of Nano-Plates: A Molecular Dynamics Simulation

This paper addresses the influence of boundary conditions and small-scale effect on the free vibration of nano-plates using molecular dynamics (MD) and nonlocal elasticity theory. Based on the MD simulations, Large-scale Atomic/Molecular Massively Parallel Simulator (LAMMPS) is used to obtain fundamental frequencies of single layered graphene sheets (SLGSs) which modeled in this paper as the mo...

Element Free Galerkin Method for Static Analysis of Thin Micro/Nanoscale Plates Based on the Nonlocal Plate Theory

In this article, element free Galerkin method is used for static analysis of thin micro/nanoscale plates based on the nonlocal plate theory. The problem is solved for the plates with arbitrary boundary conditions. Since shape functions of the element free Galerkin method do not satisfy the Kronecker’s delta property, the penalty method is used to impose the essential boundary conditions. Discre...

A Simple and Systematic Approach for Implementing Boundary Conditions in the Differential Quadrature Free and Forced Vibration Analysis of Beams and Rectangular Plates

This paper presents a simple and systematic way for imposing boundary conditions in the differential quadrature free and forced vibration analysis of beams and rectangular plates. First, the Dirichlet- and Neumann-type boundary conditions of the beam (or plate) are expressed as differential quadrature analog equations at the grid points on or near the boundaries. Then, similar to CBCGE (direct ...
