Correction: Root System Architecture from Coupling Cell Shape to Auxin Transport
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Since publication of this paper, the authors became aware of details in the preparation of a composite figure that required correction. In the previous version of Figure 2, a segment within a cortical cell close to the shootward end of panel 2D1 was processed to match between overlapping images, which does not fully comply with image processing standards. We have reconstructed all composite panels in the corrected Figure 2 from the raw data to ensure that the figure is now fully compliant. In this process, we have slightly shifted the positioning of some inset boxes for an improved positional match with the high magnification images they are referring to. None of these changes affect the results and conclusions reported in the paper in any way. The correction version has been provided here.

Root System Architecture from Coupling Cell Shape to Auxin Transport
Lateral organ position along roots and shoots largely determines plant architecture, and depends on auxin distribution patterns. Determination of the underlying patterning mechanisms has hitherto been complicated because they operate during growth and division. Here, we show by experiments and computational modeling that curvature of the Arabidopsis root influences cell sizes, which, together w...

Auxin affects the shape of root systems by influencing elongation and branching. Because multidrug resistance (MDR)-like ABC transporters participate in auxin transport, they may be expected to contribute to root system development. This reverse genetic study of Arabidopsis thaliana roots shows that MDR4-mediated basipetal auxin transport did not affect root elongation or branching. However, im...

متن کاملAUX1 promotes lateral root formation by facilitating indole-3-acetic acid distribution between sink and source tissues in the Arabidopsis seedling.
Arabidopsis root architecture is regulated by shoot-derived signals such as nitrate and auxin. We report that mutations in the putative auxin influx carrier AUX1 modify root architecture as a result of the disruption in hormone transport between indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) source and sink tissues. Gas chromatography-selected reaction monitoring-mass spectrometry measurements revealed that the au...

The root system architecture is crucial to adapt plant growth to changing soil environmental conditions and consequently to maintain crop yield. In addition to root branching through lateral roots, legumes can develop another organ, the nitrogen-fixing nodule, upon a symbiotic bacterial interaction. A mutant, cra1, showing compact root architecture was identified in the model legume Medicago tr...
