Usability Engineering for Spoken Dialogue Systems via Statistical User Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
We describe ongoing work to integrate statistical user models in the usability engineering process of spoken dialogue systems. The idea is to generate user dialogue actions up to the spoken utterances in response to system utterances and directly feed them to the system under test. The underlying user models are derived semi-automatically from dialogue corpora. All simulated interactions are logged and a usability profile is derived from the log files, using HMMs to continuously estimate user judgments.

Cooperative Dialogue Planning with User and Situation Models via Example-based Training
To provide a high level of usability, spoken dialogue systems must generate cooperative responses for a wide variety of users and situations. We introduce a dialogue planning scheme which incorporates user and situation models, making such dialogue adaptation possible. Manually developing a set of dialogue rules to accommodate all possible model combinations is very difficult and obstructs syst...

This paper discusses factors and scientific approaches to usability of spoken dialogue systems. The view taken is that these approaches fit into the models for usability engineering and iterative system development. We propose that different aspects of usability engineering becomes important depending if the development is research-oriented or application-oriented. The relation between these as...
