Visual Attention: A Cell that Focuses on One Object at a Time
نویسنده
چکیده
A new study has identified a remarkable neuron in the dragonfly brain that chooses and faithfully follows one and only one prey-like visual target, completely ignoring another, thereby demonstrating a form of competitive selection required for visual attention.

Attention and Visual Perception: Analyzing Divided Attention
Attention is one of the most active areas of experimental research in cognitive science. This chapter focuses on an aspect of attention that has been studied intensively over the past twenty-five years or so: capacity limitations on our ability to perceive multiple visual inputs. The basic questions are simple but far-reaching. How much visual information can we take in at one time? What can we...
متن کاملTowards learning through robotic interaction alone: the joint guided search task
This work proposes a biologically inspired approach that focuses on attention systems that are able to inhibit or constrain what is relevant at any one moment. We propose a radically new approach to making progress in human-robot joint attention called “the joint guided search task”. Visual guided search is the activity of the eye as it saccades from position to position recognizing objects in ...
متن کاملPlanning and Control of Two-Link Rigid Flexible Manipulators in Dynamic Object Manipulation Missions
This research focuses on proposing an optimal trajectory planning and control method of two link rigid-flexible manipulators (TLRFM) for Dynamic Object Manipulation (DOM) missions. For the first time, achievement of DOM task using a rotating one flexible link robot was taken into account in [20]. The authors do not aim to contribute on either trajectory tracking or vibration control of the End-...

With respect to today's international standing of the religious city of Mashhad in the Islamic world, we need to highlight the shrine, according to surrounding context in order to manifest its organization. Lack of attention to the restoration and reorganization of the city texture may reduce tourism, population displacement, economic recession and, above all, the loss of cultural identity and ...
متن کاملCompressed-Sampling-Based Image Saliency Detection in the Wavelet Domain
When watching natural scenes, an overwhelming amount of information is delivered to the Human Visual System (HVS). The optic nerve is estimated to receive around 108 bits of information a second. This large amount of information can’t be processed right away through our neural system. Visual attention mechanism enables HVS to spend neural resources efficiently, only on the selected parts of the...
