The Deviation Constraint

چکیده
This paper introduces DEVIATION, a soft global constraint to obtain balanced solutions. A violation measure of the perfect balance can be defined as the Lp norm of the vector variables minus their mean. SPREAD constraints the sum of square deviations to the mean [5, 7] i.e. the L2 norm. The L1 norm is considered here. Neither criterion subsumes the other but the design of a propagator for L1 is simpler. We also show that a propagator for DEVIATION runs in O(n) (with respect to the number of variables) against O(n) for SPREAD.

The Impacts of Monetary Policy on Macroeconomic Variables Assuming the Collateral Constraint
This study aimed to examine the effects of monetary policy on macroeconomic variables with regard to the collateral constraint. For this purpose, a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) was developed for Iran’s economic status. Two scenarios were considered as to account for the behavior of the central bank. In the first scenario, the monetary rule is modeled according to the GDP gap an...
متن کاملIncorporating Return on Inventory Investment into Joint Lot-Sizing and Price Discriminating Decisions: A Fuzzy Chance Constraint Programming Model
Coordination of market decisions with other aspects of operations management such as production and inventory decisions has long been a meticulous research issue in supply chain management. Generally, changes to the original lot-sizing policy stimulated by market prices may impose remarkable deviation revenue throughout the supply and demand chain system. This paper examines how to set the chan...

OBJECTIVE To compare the effects of 4 weeks of intervention using conventional rehabilitation, intensive conventional rehabilitation and modified constraint-induced movement therapy on the hemiplegic upper extremity in stroke patients. METHODS Thirty stroke patients (mean age: 63.3, standard deviation 9.63 years; mean time since stroke: 11.33, standard deviation 8.29 weeks) were randomly divi...
متن کاملBound-Consistent Deviation Constraint
Deviation is a recent constraint to balance a set of variables with respect to a given mean. We show that the propagators recently introduced are not bound-consistent when the mean is rational. We introduce bound-consistent propagators running in linear time with respect to the number of variables. We evaluate the improvement in terms of efficiency and pruning obtained with the new propagators ...
متن کاملWorkflow Flexibility by Deviation by means of Constraint Satisfaction Problem Solving
This paper introduces a novel approach for flexible workflow management by applying constraint satisfaction problem solving. This enables us to support workflow deviations at runtime, react to upcoming events or unpredictable circumstances, but still support the user through worklist suggestions. The developed workflow engine is completely based on declarative workflow representations, whereas ...
