چکیده
Blocking transformation is performed in quantum field theory at finite temperature. It is found that the manner temperature deforms the renormalized trajectories can be used to understand better the role played by the quantum fluctuations. In particular, it is conjectured that domain formation and mass parameter generation can be observed in theories without spontaneous symmetry breaking. Scalar QED is used to study approximations in thermal field theory beyond the Hard Thermal Loop resummation scheme. For this purpose the photon self energy is calculated for external momenta of the order eT using Hard Thermal Loop resummed Green functions.

The massive scalar field with λϕ 4 interaction placed in (3 + 1) dimensional box is considered. The sizes of the box are V × β (V = L 3 is the volume, T = 1/β is the temperature). The free energy is evaluated up to the 2nd order of P T. The averaging on the vacuum fluctuations is separated from the averaging on the thermal fluctuations explicitly. As result the free-energy is expressed through ...

The generating functional for hard thermal loops in Quantum Chromodynamics is important in setting up a resummed perturbation theory. I review how this functional is related to the eikonal for a Chern-Simons gauge theory, and using an auxiliary field, to the gauged Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten action. The induced current due to hard thermal loops, properly incorporating damping effects, is also b...

The application of the locally harmonic approximation to large scale collective motion is briefly reviewed. Particular emphasis is paid to issues which might be useful in the more general context, or which are specific to our treatment, like there are: Self-consistency between collective and intrinsic motion, a T dependent coupling constant, the inclusion of quantum effects for the dynamics of ...
