An Estimate of Reflection Coefficients for Rabbit Heart Capillaries

چکیده

Isolated perfused rabbit hearts have been used to determine the reflection coefficients, sigma, of the heart capillaries to certain lipoid-insoluble substances. This was done by initially perfusing the heart with a Ringer solution containing no test molecule and then suddenly switching to a solution which differed from the original only by containing a small amount of test substance. This produced a loss of weight of the heart which was continuously recorded as a function of time. Taking the "zero" time rate of weight change and using an equation given by Kedem and Katchalsky reflection coefficients for urea, sucrose, raffinose, and inulin were obtained. These turned out to be 0.1, 0.3, 0.38, and 0.69 respectively. Using the approach of Durbin and Solomon equivalent pore radii were estimated to be about 35 Angstroms.

Large Scale Experiments Data Analysis for Estimation of Hydrodynamic Force Coefficients

This paper describes the various frequency domain methods which may be used to analyze experiments data on the force experienced by a circular cylinder in wave and current to estimate drag and inertia coefficients for use in Morison’s equation. An additional approach, system identification techniques (SIT) is also introduced. A set of data obtained from experiments on heavily roughened circular...

Ferrite material Characterization Using S-Parameters Data

ince many applications rely on the knowledge of the electromagnetic material properties of ferrites, such as ferrite phase shifters, this paper presents an algorithm for characterizing ferrite materials in a single frequency using a rectangular waveguide system. In this method, the extraction of ferrite parameters is implemented through minimizing the difference between the measured data and th...

Selecting effective features from Phonocardiography by Genetic Algorithm based on Pearson`s Coefficients Correlation

The heart is one of the most important organs in the body, which is responsible for pumping blood into the valvular systems. Beside, heart valve disorders are one of the leading causes of death in the world. These disorders are complications in the heart valves that cause the valves to deform or damage, and as a result, the sounds caused by their opening and closing compared to a healthy heart....

Reflection From Free Surface of a Rotating Generalized Thermo-Piezoelectric Solid Half Space

The analysis of rotational effect on the characteristics of plane waves propagating in a half space of generalized thermo-piezoelectric medium is presented in context of linear theory of thermo-piezoelectricity including Coriolis and centrifugal forces. The governing equations for a rotating generalized thermo-piezoelectric medium are formulated and solved for plane wave solutions to show the p...
