Naturforsch. 58b, 299Ð304 (2003); received December 17, 2002 The reaction of Cp*V(CO)4 (1) with molecular oxygen in diluted pentane solution leads to a tetrameric dioxide, [Cp*V(O)(μ-O)]4 (2), which is a precursor of the octanuclear aggregate Cp*6V8O17 (3). The molecular structures of 1 and 2 have been determined by X-ray crystallography.
