چکیده

Any performance evaluation of broadband networks requires statistical analysis and modeling of the actual network traffic. Since multimedia services and especially MPEG coded video streams are expected to be a major traffic component over these networks, modeling of such services and accurate estimation of the network resources are crucial for the reliable operation of the future telecommunication networks. In this paper, modeling and statistical analysis of video traffic, generated by long duration real world MPEG-1 encoders, are performed. Particularly, the MPEG video traffic is approximated by a stochastic model, consisting of two Markov chains, based on statistical properties of MPEG-1 sources. The chains are responsible for approximation of packet size and the respective arrival intervals of the traffic respectively. Experimental results are presented using two real-life MPEG-1 coded video sources at two different bit rates, which indicate the good performance of the proposed model as far as the estimation of the network resources is concerned at different buffer sizes and utilization degree. Key-Words: Modeling, MPEG Video Coding, Multiplexing, Packet Loss.

Traffic Scene Analysis using Hierarchical Sparse Topical Coding

Analyzing motion patterns in traffic videos can be exploited directly to generate high-level descriptions of the video contents. Such descriptions may further be employed in different traffic applications such as traffic phase detection and abnormal event detection. One of the most recent and successful unsupervised methods for complex traffic scene analysis is based on topic models. In this pa...

Characterization, adaptive traffic shaping and multiplexing of real-time MPEG-II video

We obtain a network traffic model for real-time MPEG-II encoded digital video by analyzing video stream samples from real-time encoders from NUKO Information Systems. MPEG-II sample streams include a resolution intensive movie, City of Joy, an action intensive movie, Aliens, a luminance intensive (black and white) movie, Road To Utopia, and a chrominance intensive (color) movie, Dick Tracy. Fro...

ارزیابی سیاست‌های زمان‌بندی در نسل چهارم شبکه‌های سلولی (LTE)

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...

An Introduction to Videoconference Video Traffic

This paper presents modeling results for H.26x video traffic generated by popular videoconference software applications. The analysis of videoconference data that were measured during realistic point-point videoconference sessions, led us to the general conclusion that the traffic can be distinguished into two categories: unconstrained and constrained. In the unconstrained traffic, there is a d...

Method of Video-Measurements of Traffic Flow Characteristics at a Road Junction

In the theory of traffic flows the main characteristics are: intensity, speed, and density.  They make it possible to use hydrodynamic models. In connection with the development of modern highways and road networks, traffic flows behavior is becoming more and more complex and diverse. In particular, the B.Kerner studies have shown that the laminar solution of hydrodynamic models is poorly corre...
