چکیده

The transport properties of nanoscaled objects can be very different from those of the corresponding bulk material due to the influence of finite-size and quantum-size effects in low-dimensional structures. In 1993, Hicks and Dresselhaus published theoretical investigations on transport properties of one-dimensional conductors, predicting a significantly enhanced thermoelectric efficiency [1]. Because of large effective masses and mean free path of the conduction electrons, Bi is an ideal material for studying the transport properties of nanowires. The electrical conductivity of Bi nanowires was already intensively investigated [2]. Here, a simple method for the measurement of another thermoelectric material property, the Seebeck coefficient S, of arrays of embedded submicron wires is presented. S is defined as proportionality factor between the potential difference dU and the temperature difference dT at zero current. Hence,

Conductance in quantum wires by three quantum dots arrays

A noninteracting quantum-dot arrays side coupled to a quantum wire is studied. Transport through the quantum wire is investigated by using a noninteracting Anderson tunneling Hamiltonian. The conductance at zero temperature develops an oscillating band with resonances and antiresonances due to constructive and destructive interference in the ballistic channel, respectively. Moreover, we have fo...

Fabrication and Optical Characterization of Silicon Nanostructure Arrays by Laser Interference Lithography and Metal-Assisted Chemical Etching

In this paper metal-assisted chemical etching has been applied to pattern porous silicon regions and silicon nanohole arrays in submicron period simply by using positive photoresist as a mask layer. In order to define silicon nanostructures, Metal-assisted chemical etching (MaCE) was carried out with silver catalyst. Provided solution (or materiel) in combination with laser interference lithogr...

The effect of particle size and the heat treatment on precursor powder and subsequent phase formation of silver tube Bi-2223 wire has been studied. First, we have prepared a series of Bi1.66Pb0.34Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy samples with different sintering temperatures and studied the phase formation in these samples. Second, different particle size distributions were obtained by grinding powders of best for...

Bismuth nanowire arrays: Synthesis and galvanomagnetic properties

This paper reports galvanomagnetic properties of arrays of single-crystal bismuth nanowires, with diameters of 7 to 200 nm, embedded in an amorphous porous anodic alumina matrix. A sample preparation technique is described that makes it possible to obtain nanowires with diameters below 10 nm. The wires are single crystals, with their long axes oriented in the bisectrix/trigonal plane, about 19°...
