An axiomatic theory for interaction between species in ecology: Gause's exclusion conjecture
نویسنده
چکیده
I introduce an axiomatic representation, called ecoset, to consider interactions between species in ecological systems. For interspecific competition, the exclusion conjecture (Gause) is put in a symbolic way and used as a basic operational tool to consider more complex cases like two species with two superposed resources (niche differentiation) and apparent competitors. Competition between tortoises and invaders in Galapagos islands is considered as a specific example. Our theory gives us an operative language to consider elementary process in ecology and open a route to more complex systems.

Symbology from set theory applied to ecological systems: Gause's exclusion principle and applications
We introduce a symbolic representation like set theory to consider ecologic interactions between species (ECOSET). The ecologic exclusion principle (Gause) is put in a symbolic way and used as operational tool to consider more complex cases like interaction with sterile species (SIT technique), two species with two superposed sources (niche differentiation) and N+P species competing by N resour...
متن کاملFractal Population Ecology Theory
Abstract Purpose - The aim of this paper is to describe the population ecology theory through fractal thinking, an emergent human operating system that is creative, adaptive, healthy, and evolutionary; furthermore, a parallel is drawn between the population ecology model and the fractal structure. Top-down hierarchies are typically characterized by command and control systems of the authority t...
متن کاملA Lean Manufacturing Roadmap for an Automotive Body Assembly Line within Axiomatic Design Framework
In this paper we are to present a practical application of Axiomatic Design (AD) methodology, as a roadmap to lean production, in redesigning a car body assembly line. Axiomatic Design theory provides a framework to simplify the whole problem. According to the AD principles, a hierarchical structure has been developed. The developed structure originated in lean manufacturing principles and exis...
متن کاملGause's exclusion principle revisited: artificial modified species and competition
Gause’s principle of competition between two species is studied when one of them is sterile. We study the condition for total extinction in the niche, namely, when the sterile population exterminates the native one by an optimal use of resources. A mathematical Lotka-Volterra non linear model of interaction between a native and sterile species is proposed. The condition for total extinction is ...
متن کاملGause's Principle and the Effect of Resource Partitioning on the Dynamical Coexistence of Replicating Templates
Models of competitive template replication, although basic for replicator dynamics and primordial evolution, have not yet taken different sequences explicitly into account, neither have they analyzed the effect of resource partitioning (feeding on different resources) on coexistence. Here we show by analytical and numerical calculations that Gause's principle of competitive exclusion holds for ...
