چکیده
510 Conclusions We have shown evidence for the bridging flocculation of PSL by p-LG. The change in surface charge of the PSL spheres resulting from adsorption of p-LG molecules correlates with the formation of aggregates bridged by protein molecules. To develop models of the kinetics of bridging flocculation, some measurements of aggregation as a function of time and temperature have been carried out and will be reported elsewhere. Future work will aim to describe the kinetics of aggregation quantitatively and the diffusion of PSL in more highly aggregated (pre-gel) and gelled whey protein systems will be investigated using P.C.S. and forced Rayleigh scattering.

متن کاملFractionation and characterization of phenolic resins by high-performance liquid chromatography and gel-permeation chromatography combined with ultraviolet, refractive index, mass spectrometry and light-scattering detection.
HPLC and gel permeation chromatographic (GPC) characterization of complex phenol-formaldehyde resins is described. Reversed-phase HPLC fingerprints the phenolic monomers, dimers and some oligomers. The molecular masses of these phenolic compounds were determined using an ion trap mass spectrometer. GPC analyzes tetrahydrofuran-soluble phenolic polymers beyond HPLC capability. The molecular mass...
متن کاملDerivatization-free gel permeation chromatography elucidates enzymatic cellulose hydrolysis
UNLABELLED BACKGROUND The analysis of cellulose molecular weight distributions by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is a powerful tool to obtain detailed information on enzymatic cellulose hydrolysis, supporting the development of economically viable biorefinery processes. Unfortunately, due to work and time consuming sample preparation, the measurement of cellulose molecular weight distri...
متن کاملDetection of serum proteins by high-pressure gel-permeation chromatography with low-angle laser light scattering, compared with analytical ultracentrifugation.
Human sera were subjected to analytical ultracentrifugation and "high-pressure" gel-permeation chromatography on a system of combined TSK Gel G5000 PW and G3000 SW columns. The chromatographic method produced remarkably superior resolution of the proteins, especially those exceeding 100 000 Da. We calculated the molecular masses of eluted fractions on the basis of their detection by low-angle l...
متن کاملElectron Beam Irradiation of Cellulosic Materials—Opportunities and Limitations
The irradiation of pulp is of interest from different perspectives. Mainly it is required when a modification of cellulose is needed. Irradiation could bring many advantages, such as chemical savings and, therefore, cost savings and a reduction in environmental pollutants. In this account, pulp and dissociated celluloses were analyzed before and after irradiation by electron beaming. The focus ...
