چکیده

Förster resonance energy transfer FRET between CdTe quantum dots QDs at nanoscale proximity to gold nanoparticle Au NP layers is investigated experimentally. We have observed the enhancement in the acceptor QDs’ photoluminescence lifetime intensities. The decrease in donor QDs’ exciton lifetime from 5.74 to 2.06 ns, accompanied by an increase in acceptor QDs’ exciton lifetime from 3.38 to 7.52 ns, provided evidence for enhanced FRET between the QDs near Au NPs. The Au NPs’ surface plasmon dipole fields are assisted to overcome the weak electronic coupling between the emitting donor and absorbing acceptor transition exciton dipoles in the homogeneous medium. © 2008 American Institute of Physics. Revolutionizing the FRET-Based Light Emission in Core-Shell Nanostructures via Comprehensive Activity of Surface Plasmons

We demonstrate the surface-plasmon-induced enhancement of Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET)using a model multilayer core-shell nanostructure consisting of an Au core and surrounding FRET pairs, i.e., CdSe quantum dot donors and S101 dye acceptors. The multilayer configuration was demonstrated to exhibit synergistic effects of surface plasmon energy transfer from the metal to the CdSe and...

Fluorescence resonance energy transfer in doubly-quantum dot labeled IgG system.

The mouse immunoglobulin G (mouse IgG) as a kind of bio-molecule was labeled with two different luminescent colloidal semiconductor quantum dots (QDs), green-emitting CdTe quantum dots and red-emitting CdTe quantum dots in this work. As a result of the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between the two different sizes nanoparticles with mouse IgG as the binding bridge, a significant ...

Experimental and theoretical investigation of the distance dependence of localized surface plasmon coupled Förster resonance energy transfer.

The distance dependence of localized surface plasmon (LSP) coupled Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) is experimentally and theoretically investigated using a trilayer structure composed of separated monolayers of donor and acceptor quantum dots with an intermediate Au nanoparticle layer. The dependence of the energy transfer efficiency, rate, and characteristic distance, as well as the e...

Förster resonance energy transfer enhanced color-conversion using colloidal semiconductor quantum dots for solid state lighting

In this paper, we present Förster resonance energy transfer FRET -enhanced color-conversion using colloidal semiconductor quantum dot nanocrystals NCs to make reddish-orange light-emitting diodes for use in ultraefficient solid state lighting. To achieve FRET enhancement at 614 nm, we use an energy gradient hybrid structure made of cyanand orange-emitting CdSe/ZnS NCs PL=492 and 588 nm in solut...

Chemical redox modulation of the surface chemistry of CdTe quantum dots for probing ascorbic acid in biological fluids.

Most of the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based sensors employing quantum dots (QDs) usually use organic fluorophores and gold nanoparticles as the quenchers. However, complex processes for the modification/immobilization of the QDs are always necessary, as the generation of FRET requires strict distance between the donor and acceptor. Herein, a simple chemical redox strategy fo...
