چکیده

In a network which does not differentiate among users, the equilibrium rate for any user is primarily decided by the congestion control being used. By changing their congestion control schemes, “uncooperative” users can gain more than their fair share of bandwidth, at the cost of cooperative users. We present a control-theoretic algorithm to counteract uncooperative users by adjusting the prices fed back to them. This algorithm is implemented at the edge of the network (e.g. by ISPs), and can be used with any congestion notification policy deployed by the network. Our design achieves a separation of time-scales between the network congestion feedback loop and the price-adjustment loop, thus recovering the fair allocation of bandwidth upon a fast transient phase.

An Effective Iterative Algorithm for Modeling of Multicomponent Gas Separation in a Countercurrent Membrane Permeator

A model is developed for separation of multicomponent gas mixtures in a countercurrent hollow fiber membrane module. While the model’s solution in countercurrent module usually involves in a time consuming iterative procedure, a proper initial guess is proposed for beginning the calculation and a simple procedure is introduced for correcting the guesses, hereby the CPU time is decreased ess...

Study of Parameters Affecting Separation Bubble Size in High Speed Flows using k-ω Turbulence Model

Shock waves generated at different parts of vehicle interact with the boundary layer over the surface at high Mach flows. The adverse pressure gradient across strong shock wave causes the flow to separate and peak loads are generated at separation and reattachment points. The size of separation bubble in the shock boundary layer interaction flows depends on various parameters. Reynolds-averaged...

Effect of intranasal midazolam with/without inhalation sedation (N2O/O2) in 3‒6-year-old uncooperative dental patients

Introduction: Due to incomplete development of coping skills in children, they usually cannot cope with stressful situations like dental appointments. The present study aims to evaluate the effect of intranasal midazolam with/without inhalation sedation (N2O/O2) in children with high levels of dental anxiety. Materials and Methods: This crossover double-blinded clinical trial was conducted on 1...

OFFPRINT Superdiffusion of massive particles induced by multi-scale velocity fields

We study drag-induced diffusion of massive particles in scale-free velocity fields, where superdiffusive behavior emerges due to the scale-free size distribution of the vortices of the underlying velocity field. The results show qualitative resemblance to what is observed in fluid systems, namely the diffusive exponent for the mean square separation of pairs of particles and the preferential co...
