چکیده

We present the discovery of two Saturn-mass companions to HD 108147 and HD 168746. Both belong to the lightest ever discovered planets. The minimum mass of the companion to HD 168746 is of only 0.77 the mass of Saturn and its orbital period is 6.4 days. The companion to HD 108147 orbits its parent star in 10.9 days and its minimum mass is 1.37 that of Saturn. Its orbit is characterized by a high eccentricity, e = 0.56, indicating possibly the presence of a second companion. The detection of Saturn-mass planets by means of the Doppler technique demands high radial-velocity measurement precision. The two new candidates were discovered by means of the CORALIE echelle spectrograph. The instrumental accuracy of CORALIE combined with the simultaneous ThAr-reference technique has reached a level better than 3 m s −1. On many observed objects the precision is now limited by photon noise. We present in this paper the weighted cross-correlation technique, which leads to an improvement in the photon noise of the computed radial velocity. We discuss as well a modification of the numerical cross-correlation mask which reduces significantly the residual perturbation effects produced by telluric absorption lines.

The CORALIE survey for southern extra-solar planets

Doppler measurements from the high-resolution CORALIE spectrometer of the stars HD 75289 and HD 130322 reveal 2 new extra-solar giant planets. They are the second and third planetary candidates discovered with CORALIE in less than 1 year, since its installation on the 1.2-m Euler Swiss telescope at La Silla. The minimum mass of the planet around HD 75289 (m2 sin i = 0.42 MJup) is the lightest f...

The CORALIE survey for Southern extra-solar planets

Activity related phenomena can induce radialvelocity variations, which can be very important when dealing with extra-solar planet search programmes requiring highprecision radial-velocity measurements. In this paper we present a new chromospheric activity index, SCOR, based on the Ca ii H line central reemission, and constructed using CORALIE spectra. After one year of measurements, values of S...

A new extra-solar planet has been discovered in the context of the CORALIE survey at La Silla Observatory. This new planetary candidate orbits the star HD 192263 in an almost circular orbit at a distance of 0.15 AU, producing a 24.13 day periodic radial-velocity variation, with a semi-amplitude of 62 m s ?1. The derived minimum mass of the planet is 0.73 M Jup .

This paper summarizes the information gathered for 16 still unpublished exoplanet candidates discovered with the CORALIE echelle spectrograph mounted on the Euler Swiss telescope at La Silla Observatory. Amongst these new candidates, 10 are typical extrasolar Jupiter-like planets on intermediate-or long-Two of these stars are in binary systems. The next 3 candidates are shorter-period planets (...
