3D Inversion of SQUID Magnetic Tensor Data

چکیده
Developments in SQUID-based technology have enabled direct measurement of magnetic tensor data for geophysical exploration. For quantitative interpretation, we introduce 3D regularized inversion for magnetic tensor data. For mineral exploration-scale targets, our model studies show that magnetic tensor data have significantly improved resolution compared to magnetic vector data for the same model. We present a case study for the 3D regularized inversion of magnetic tensor data acquired over a magnetite skarn at Tallawang, Australia. The results obtained from our 3D regularized inversion agree very well with the known geology of the area. *Corresponding author: Glenn A. Maximising Geological Information Recovery from Different Magnetic Instruments through the Application of Joint Inversion
Magnetic instruments such as cross-wing gradiometers, vertical gradiometers and full tensor SQUID magnetometers presented challenges for geological interpretation and geophysical inversion. In particular, the full tensor magnetometer presents many new challenges for an interpreter where only the vertical derivative of the vertical magnetic component presents a useful geological analogue for vis...
متن کامل3D Inversion of Magnetic Data through Wavelet based Regularization Method
This study deals with the 3D recovering of magnetic susceptibility model by incorporating the sparsity-based constraints in the inversion algorithm. For this purpose, the area under prospect was divided into a large number of rectangular prisms in a mesh with unknown susceptibilities. Tikhonov cost functions with two sparsity functions were used to recover the smooth parts as well as the sharp ...
متن کاملA new method for 3-D magnetic data inversion with physical bound
Inversion of magnetic data is an important step towards interpretation of the practical data. Smooth inversion is a common technique for the inversion of data. Physical bound constraint can improve the solution to the magnetic inverse problem. However, how to introduce the bound constraint into the inversion procedure is important. Imposing bound constraint makes the magnetic data inversion a n...
متن کاملApproximate resistivity and susceptibility mapping from airborne electromagnetic and magnetic data, a case study for a geologically plausible porphyry copper unit in Iran
This paper describes the application of approximate methods to invert airborne magnetic data as well as helicopter-borne frequency domain electromagnetic data in order to retrieve a joint model of magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity. The study area located in Semnan province of Iran consists of an arc-shaped porphyry andesite covered by sedimentary units which may have potential ...
متن کامل3D gravity data-space inversion with sparseness and bound constraints
One of the most remarkable basis of the gravity data inversion is the recognition of sharp boundaries between an ore body and its host rocks during the interpretation step. Therefore, in this work, it is attempted to develop an inversion approach to determine a 3D density distribution that produces a given gravity anomaly. The subsurface model consists of a 3D rectangular prisms of known sizes ...
