Expressing Second-order Sentences in Intuitionistic Dependence Logic
نویسنده
چکیده
Intuitionistic dependence logic was introduced by Abramsky and Väänänen [AV09] as a variant of dependence logic under a general construction of Hodges’ (trump) team semantics. It was proven that there is a translation from intuitionistic dependence logic sentences into second order logic sentences. In this paper, we prove that the other direction is also true, therefore intuitionistic dependence logic is equivalent to second order logic on the level of sentences.

On Extensions and Variants of Dependence Logic — A study of intuitionistic connectives in the team semantics setting
Dependence logic is a new logic which incorporates the notion of “dependence”, as well as “independence” between variables into first-order logic. In this thesis, we study extensions and variants of dependence logic on the first-order, propositional and modal level. In particular, the role of intuitionistic connectives in this setting is emphasized. We obtain, among others, the following result...
متن کاملDependence Logic vs. Constraint Satisfaction
During the past decade, dependence logic has emerged as a formalism suitable for expressing and analyzing notions of dependence and independence that arise in different scientific areas. The sentences of dependence logic have the same expressive power as those of existential second-order logic, hence dependence logic captures NP on the class of all finite structures. In this paper, we identify ...
متن کاملQuestions and dependency in intuitionistic logic
In recent years, the logic of questions and dependencies has been investigated in the closely related frameworks of inquisitive logic and dependence logic. These investigations have assumed classical logic as the background logic of statements, and added formulas expressing questions and dependencies to this classical core. In this paper, we broaden the scope of these investigations by studying...
متن کاملDialetheism, Game Theoretic Semantics, and Paraconsistent Team Semantics
We introduce a variant of Dependence Logic in which truth is defined not in terms of existence of winning strategies for the Proponent (Eloise) in a semantic game, but in terms of lack of winning strategies for the Opponent (Abelard). We show that this language is a conservative but paraconsistent extension of First Order Logic, that its validity problem can be reduced to that of First Order Lo...
متن کاملThe Undecidability of Second Order Linear Logic Without Exponentials
Recently, Lincoln, Scedrov and Shankar showed that the multi-plicative fragment of second order intuitionistic linear logic is undecidable, using an encoding of second order intuitionistic logic. Their argument applies to the multiplicative-additive fragment, but it does not work in the classical case, because second order classical logic is decidable. Here we show that the multiplicative-addit...
