چکیده

S u m m a r y . T h e conditions for the existence of non-perturbative type ~ superconductor ~) solutions of field theories are examined. A non-covariant canonical transformation method is used to find such solutions for a theory of a fermion interacting with a pseudoscalar bosom A covariant renormalisable method using Feynman integrals is then given. A (~ superconductor ~) solution is found whenever in the normal perturbative-type solution the boson mass squared is negative and the coupling constants satisfy certain inequalities. The symmetry properties of such solutions are examined with the aid of a simple model of self-interacting boson fields. The solutions have lower symmetry than the Lagrangian, and contain mass zero bosons.

Gravity duals for nonrelativistic conformal field theories.

We attempt to generalize the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence to nonrelativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations. Such systems govern ultracold atoms at unitarity, nucleon scattering in some channels, and, more generally, a family of universality classes of quantum critical behavior. We construct a family of metrics which realize t...

Gravity duals for non-relativistic CFTs

We attempt to generalize the AdS/CFT correspondence to non-relativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations. Such systems govern ultracold atoms at unitarity, nucleon scattering in some channels, and more generally, a family of universality classes of quantum critical behavior. We construct a family of metrics which realize these symmetries as isometries....

Zero bias conductance peak (ZBCP) is known to occur in junctions between normal metal and conventional superconductor. This phenomenon is conventionally explained by Andreev reflection of the tunneling electrons at the interface and the ZBCP

normal metal and conventional superconductor. This phenomenon is conventionally explained by Andreev reflection of the tunneling electrons at the interface and the ZBCP height is limited to less than double of the normal conductance at higher bias. However, BSCCO is different from other conventional superconductors because of the d-wave characteristics of the order parameter. There are several ...

Blocked lattice monopoles in quenched SU ( 2 ) QCD and dual superconductor model ∗

The key feature of the dual superconductor mechanism [1] of the color confinement in non– Abelian gauge theories is the Abelian monopole condensation (for a review, see, e.g., Ref. [2]). The monopole condensate is formed in the low temperature (confinement) phase and it disappears in the high temperature (deconfinement) phase [3]. The monopoles provide a dominant contribution to the tension of ...

Field Theory of Mesoscopic Fluctuations in Superconductor/Normal-Metal Systems

Thermodynamic and transport properties of mesoscopic conductors are strongly influenced by the proximity of a superconductor: An interplay between the large scale quantum coherent wave functions in the normal mesoscopic and the superconducting region, respectively, leads to unusual mechanisms of quantum interference. These manifest themselves in both the mean and the mesoscopic fluctuation beha...
