چکیده

This paper presents an adaptive novelty detection methodology applied to a kinematic chain for the monitoring of faults. The proposed approach has the premise that only information of the healthy operation of the machine is initially available and fault scenarios will eventually develop. This approach aims to cover some of the challenges presented when condition monitoring is applied under a continuous learning framework. The structure of the method is divided in two recursive stages. First, an offline stage for initialization and retraining of the feature reduction and novelty detection modules; and second, an online monitoring stage to continuously assess the condition of the machine. Contrary to classical static feature-reduction approaches, the proposed method reformulates the features by employing first a Laplacian Score ranking and then the Fisher Score ranking for retraining. The proposed methodology is validated experimentally by monitoring the vibration measurements of a kinematic chain driven by an induction motor. Two faults are induced in the motor to validate the method performance to detect anomalies and adapt the feature reduction and novelty detection modules to the new information. The obtained results show the advantages of employing an adaptive approach for novelty detection and feature reduction making the proposed method suitable for industrial machinery diagnosis applications.

A Novel Intelligent Fault Diagnosis Approach for Critical Rotating Machinery in the Time-frequency Domain

The rotating machinery is a common class of machinery in the industry. The root cause of faults in the rotating machinery is often faulty rolling element bearings. This paper presents a novel technique using artificial neural network learning for automated diagnosis of localized faults in rolling element bearings. The inputs of this technique are a number of features (harmmean and median), whic...

An Active Learning approach for the condition monitoring of rotating machinery

Rotating machinery breakdowns are most commonly caused by failures in bearing subsystems. Consequently, condition monitoring of such subsystems could increase reliability of machines that are carrying out field operations. Recently, research has focused on the implementation of vibration signals analysis for health status diagnosis in bearings systems considering the use of acceleration measure...

AN INTELLIGENT FAULT DIAGNOSIS APPROACH FOR GEARS AND BEARINGS BASED ON WAVELET TRANSFORM AS A PREPROCESSOR AND ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS

In this paper, a fault diagnosis system based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and artificial neural networks (ANNs) is designed to diagnose different types of fault in gears and bearings. DWT is an advanced signal-processing technique for fault detection and identification. Five features of wavelet transform RMS, crest factor, kurtosis, standard deviation and skewness of discrete wavelet co...

Agricultural Vehicle Condition Monitoring System Based On Unsupervised Novelty Detection

A tractor gearbox test rig has been used to collect signals from different types of bearing faults. For vibration monitoring accelerometers have been used to obtain vibration data. For fuel-injectors a bearing checker has been used in order to collect acoustic data. One class Self Organizing Maps (OCSOM) are used for detecting faults when exposed to actual data from the system representing a ye...

Condition Monitoring of a Wind Turbine Gearbox using the Empirical Mode Decomposition Method and Outlier Analysis

Wind turbines are subject to variable aerodynamic loads and extreme environmental conditions. Wind turbine components fail frequently, resulting in high maintenance costs. For this reason, gearbox condition monitoring becomes important since gearboxes are among the wind turbine components with the most frequent failure observations. The major challenge here is the detection of faults under the ...
