چکیده

Organisational structures, institutional practices, societal assumptions and subscribed concepts impact significantly on individuals’ career aspirations and progression. Progression to educational leadership positions is no exception. In fact it emerges as a highly complex process with sensitive political underpinnings in the emerging multiply diverse societies. Research confirms the effect of factors such as race, colour, ethnicity, gender and others in shaping career paths towards leadership positions; however, the level of significance for each factor is embedded in context and case.
