چکیده

We propose a wearable haptic display that indicates the pressure and vibration on the palm for bimanual operations in virtual reality environments. This system aims to provide the touch and stroke sensations of virtual objects or virtual creatures. We constructed a prototype device that can reproduce vertical and shearing forces on the palm and evaluate the capability of the proposed method to recognize the existence of a virtual object in one-handed and twohanded operations.

Novel Interactive Techniques for Bimanual Manipulation of 3D Objects with Two 3DoF Haptic Interfaces

This paper presents a set of novel interactive techniques adapted to two-handed manipulation of objects with dual 3DoF singlepoint haptic devices. We first propose the double bubble for bimanual haptic exploration of virtual environments through hybrid position/rate controls, and a bimanual viewport adaptation method that keeps both proxies on screen in large environments. We also present two b...

3D Interaction Techniques for Bimanual Haptics in Virtual Environments

Bimanual haptics is a specific kind of multi-finger interaction that focuses on the use of both hands simultaneously. Several haptic devices permit this form of interaction, but they are subject to a certain number of limitations for interacting with virtual environments (VEs), notably workspace size issues and manipulation difficulties with single-point interfaces. Interaction techniques exist...

A Mobile Haptic Interface for Bimanual Manipulations in Extended Remote/virtual Environments

The concept of a new mobile haptic interface for unconstrained bimanual manipulation is presented. This device, which has been developed at the High-Fidelity Telepresence and Teleaction Research Centre, Munich, Germany, allows locomotion and haptic interaction at the same time. In contrast to most existing haptic interfaces, it is therefore not restricted to desktop applications but also enable...

HapTip: Displaying Haptic Shear Forces at the Fingertips for Multi-Finger Interaction in Virtual Environments

The fingertips are one of the most important and sensitive parts of our body. They are the first stimulated areas of the hand when we interact with our environment. Providing haptic feedback to the fingertips in virtual reality could, thus, drastically improve perception and interaction with virtual environments. In this paper, we present a modular approach called HapTip to display such haptic ...

Previse - a human-scale virtual environment with haptic feedback

This paper presents a human-scale multi-modal virtual environment. User interacts with virtual worlds using a large-scale bimanual haptic interface called the SPIDAR-H. This interface is used to track user’s hands movements and to display various aspects of force feedback associated mainly with contact, weight, and inertia. In order to increase the accuracy of the system, a calibration method i...
