چکیده

This paper presents the development and validation of a new parallel unstructured multi-grid preconditioned implicit method for the simulation of three-dimensional (3D) unsteady compressible flows using a so-called immersed membrane method (IMM) [G.H. Xia, Y. Zhao, J.H. Yeo, An immersed membrane method for simulation of fluid–structure interaction in bio-fluid flows, in: 1st International BioEngineering Conference (IBEC 2004), 08–10 September 2004]. The novel feature of the method presented is that it employs a unique combination of a parallel multi-grid scheme with lowMach-number preconditioning and the IMM so that 3D unsteady low-Mach-number flows with arbitrarily moving objects can be efficiently simulated. 2005 Elsevier Inc. Efficient Computation of Unsteady Viscous Flows by an Implicit Preconditioned Multigrid Method

An implicit preconditioned multigrid algorithm is developed for the efficient solution of two-dimensional, lowfrequency unsteady turbulent Navier-Stokes calculations on highly stretched meshes. The efficiency of the approach derives from three key attributes: 1) an implicit time discretization that allows the time step to be determined solely by the resolution requirements of the unsteady pheno...

A p-Multigrid Spectral Difference method for viscous compressible flow using 2D quadrilateral meshes

The work focuses on the development of a 2D quadrilateral element based Spectral Difference solver for viscous flow calculations, and the application of the p-multigrid method and implicit time-stepping to accelerate convergence. This paper extends the previous work by Liang et al (2009) on the p-multigrid method for 2D inviscid compressible flow, to viscous flows. The high-order spectral diffe...

A Study of Multigrid Smoothers Used in Compressible Cfd Based on the Convection Diffusion Equation

We look at multigrid methods for unsteady viscous compressible flows. We specifically target smoothers that can be used in parallel and without computation of a Jacobian, which are particlarly attractive candidates in the context of Discontinuous Galerkin discretizations. In CFD, a plethora of nonlinear smoothers have been suggested which are hard to analyze. Our methodology is to use a linear ...

An Adaptive Semi-Implicit Scheme for Simulations of Unsteady Viscous Compressible Flows

A numerical scheme for simulation of unsteady, viscous, compressible flows is considered. The scheme employs an explicit discretization of the inviscid terms of the N avier-Stokes equations and an implicit discretization of the viscous terms. The discretization is second order accurate in both space and time. Under appropriate assumptions, the implicit system of equations can be decoupled into ...
