TWO METHODS FOR TREE VOLUME ESTIMATION OF Acacia melanoxylon IN PORTUGAL
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two models were developed to evaluate total volume under and over-bark of Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon R. Br.) stand trees. By variance analysis regarding volume with and without bark it was confirmed that trees age is responsible for 48 to 50% of its volumetric behaviour. Considered the averages of those variables and regarding the three homogeneous groups of the studied sites, a single model type was used (v=β1d h) for estimating volumes. The critical errors are between 72 and 195 dm under-bark, and 82 and 212dm over-bark. The model that uses sites as dummy variables to the estimation of stand tree volumes is the same, and this method performs maximum expected errors with values of 155 dm (under-bark) and 169dm (over-bark), to mean maximum volumes of 1362 and 1459 dm respectively. The use of dummy variables is a more expedite and rapid modelling method, and its maximum expected errors perform lower values.

متن کاملBiosynthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Leaves of Acacia Melanoxylon and their Application as Dopamine and Hydrogen Peroxide Sensors
In this work, we described a cost-effective and environmentally friendly technique for green synthesis of colloidal silver nanoparticles from aqueous extract of fresh leaves of Acacia melanoxylon and its application as a dopamine and hydrogen peroxide sensor. The prepared silver nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron mi...
متن کاملHierarchical patterns of correlated mating in Acacia melanoxylon.
Pollen of acacias is transported by insects as polyads, composite pollen grains. The polyad has enough pollen grains to fertilize all ovules within a flower and hence all seed within a pod may be full sibs. Isozyme markers were used to test this hypothesis in two populations of Acacia melanoxylon R.Br. The proportions of fruit pods with multiple paternity detected in two populations were 0.08 a...
متن کاملEstimation of Browse Productivity for Acacia seyal (Delile) in Alazzazah Area, Blue Nile State, Sudan
Fodder trees and shrubs are crucial sources of animal feed in Sudan, particularly in arid and semi-arid areas. This is because they can fill up the feed gaps in the summer period when grassland growth is limited due to unfavorable weather conditions. The study was conducted in Elnour forest-southeastern Sudan in 2015, which is dominated by Acacia seyal. The objectives of this study were to esti...
متن کاملInfluence of Heartwood on Wood Density and Pulp Properties Explained by Machine Learning Techniques
The aim of this work is to develop a tool to predict some pulp properties e.g., pulp yield, Kappa number, ISO brightness (ISO 2470:2008), fiber length and fiber width, using the sapwood and heartwood proportion in the raw-material. For this purpose, Acacia melanoxylon trees were collected from four sites in Portugal. Percentage of sapwood and heartwood, area and the stem eccentricity (in N-S an...
