چکیده
Objective-Preeclampsia is one of the leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of β hCG and other biochemical markers in preeclampsia and in normotensive patients . Method – This was a prospective study conducted on 50 preeclamptic (case)and 50 normotensive pregnant women (control) in obstetrics and gynaecology department of M.Y. hospital. Level of β hcg and other biochemical markers between case and control was compared with chi-square test. P-value <0.05 was considered significant. ResultIn our study mean β hcg level in preeclamptic women( 27,802.51mIU/L ) was higher than normotensive pregnant women (12, 551.08mIU/L) with p-value<.05. Level of other biochemical markers triglycerides, total cholesterol were also higher in preeclamptic women compared to normotensive pregnant women with p-value <0.05. ConclusionThe result of this study show that level of β hcg is significantly higher in preeclampsia then in normotensive pregnant women. Level of triglyceride and total cholesterol also have significant difference in both group with higher level in preeclampsia.

Beta-Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (βHCG) Levels in Pre-eclamptic and Normotensive Pregnant Women
Background: Pre-eclampsia along with bleeding and infection constitute a triad that is a major cause of maternal mortality. Many factors have been recognized which can help us to determine the severity of the disease and early diagnosis of it. Since throphoblastic disorder is one of the etiological causes of pre-eclampsia, we decided to measure the level of β-hCG as a marker of detecting the ac...

متن کاملComparison of Abdominal Aorta Intima-Media Thickness, Serum Level of Leptin, and Lipid Profile between Maternal Preeclampsia and Neonatal Outcomes
Background Pre-eclampsia is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality among pregnant women. This study was done with the objective of measuring abdominal aorta intima-media thickness, serum level of leptin, and lipid profile in neonates of pre-eclampsia mothers and comparing them with neonates of mothers without pre-eclampsia (control group). Materials and Methods Ninety neonates of pre...
متن کاملComparison ofβhCG Serum level in mild pre-eclampsia and healthy pregnant women
Abstract Background and Objective: Pre-eclampsia is the most common cause of maternal and neonatal mortality. Recent studies show that there may be a relationship between chorionic gonadotropine (HCG) and pre-eclampsia. Thus we aimed at assessing the serum level of βhCG after 28th week of pregnancy in mild pre-eclamptic and healthy pregnant women. Material and Methods: In this case-contro...
متن کاملThe role of maternal serumbeta-HCG and PAPP-A levels at gestational weeks 10 to 14 in the prediction of pre-eclampsia
OBJECTIVE We aimed to detect whether maternal serum free β-hCG and PAPP-A levels and NT measurements vary between normal pregnancies and those that subsequently develop pre-eclampsia and to evaluate the role of these screening serum analytes in the prediction of pre-eclampsia. METHODS Using a case-control study design, we identified all women who had been screened by double test within 11+0 a...
