چکیده
This is an attempt to develop a universal socio-technical computing machine that captures and coordinates human input to let collective problem solving activities emerge on the Web without the need for an a priori composition of a dedicated task or human collective.

Modeling Socio-Technical Processes in e-Commerce Scenarios
We consider socio-technical processes, i.e. processes where machines as well as humans participate. Typical examples occur in sales processes in e-commerce. Three modeling tasks are selected: Modeling user preferences and utilities, modeling evaluations and modeling influence factors. A central concept representing knowledge is the notion of similarity. The major technique discussed is machine ...
متن کاملDesign of Autonomous DNA Cellular Automata
Recent experimental progress in DNA lattice construction, DNA robotics, and DNA computing provide the basis for designing DNA cellular computing devices, i.e. autonomous nano-mechanical DNA computing devices embedded in DNA lattices. Once assembled, DNA cellular computing devices can serve as reusable, compact computing devices that perform (universal) computation, and programmable robotics dev...
متن کاملBoundaries of Socio-Technical Systems and IT for Knowledge Development in Military Environments
This article explores the boundaries of socio-technical IT systems for knowledge development, using military environments in a case study approach. The need to examine the effects of socio-technical convergence of human systems and computer systems is emerging in many fields. The article examines both the risks and the potential in military critical-environments for early adoption of socio-tech...

mere algorithm, formal system, computer, or robot. A few minutes of reading and pondering is a small price to pay for this distinction. Penrose presents a version of the theorem in which the true but unprovable sentence is an assertion that a certain computer program runs on forever. The technical formulation is in terms of an ideal computer known as a Turing machine. A Turing machine is a comp...
متن کاملInformation Systems as Socio-Technical or Sociomaterial Systems
This paper considers the nature of the concept of an information system and particularly its basis as a socio-technical system. We argue that while socio-technical ideas have been heavily used within the discipline of Information Systems, the way in which an information system itself is socio-technical is quite poorly explained in such literature. We seek to address this by using a conceptual f...
