MRI Contrast Agent: Magnetic Property Characterization by SQUID Magnetometry

چکیده
Introduction Ultra-short, single-walled carbon nanotube capsules internalized with paramagnetic gadolinium-ion clusters (Gadonanotubes), see Figure 1, possess the unusual ability to cause marked shortening of both T1 and T2 (1,2). In this work we report the magnetic properties of the Gadonanotubes that underlie the significantly shortened T1 and T2 * relaxation times. Thus, the Gadonanotubes represent a new paradigm in MRI contrast agent design.

Materials Characterization of Feraheme/Ferumoxytol and Preliminary Evaluation of Its Potential for Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia
Feraheme, is a recently FDA-cleared superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle (SPION)-based MRI contrast agent that is also employed in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. Feraheme nanoparticles have a hydrodynamic diameter of 30 nm and consist of iron oxide crystallites complexed with a low molecular weight, semi-synthetic carbohydrate. These features are attractive for other potential bi...
متن کاملMapping the Microscale Origins of MRI Contrast with Subcellular NV Diamond Magnetometry
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a widely used biomedical imaging modality that derives much of its contrast from microscale magnetic field gradients in biological tissues. However, the connection between these sub-voxel field patterns and MRI contrast has not been studied experimentally. Here, we describe a new method to map subcellular magnetic fields in mammalian cells and tissues using n...
متن کاملSynthesized Gd2O3 nanoparticles as contrast agent
Introduction: Gd (III) ion has been known to be the best metal ion in the periodic table that can be used as a T1 MRI contrast agent. Gadolinium have 7 unpaired electrons and these electrons can make magnetic area. No other metal ions possess unpaired electron more than this. CAs based on the element Gd are classified as “positive”, by opposition to “negative” CAs. Nowadays, G...
متن کاملSimultaneous diagnosis and drug delivery by silymarin-loaded magnetic nanoparticles
Objective(s): The aim of this work was to prepare and characterize magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as theranostic system to act simultaneously as drug carrier and MRI contrast agent. Chitosan-coated MNPs (CMNPs) were prepared and loaded with silymarin. Silymarin-loaded CMNPs were characterized with various techniques and their potential as MRI contrast agent was also evaluated. Materials and Meth...
