چکیده

This paper presents two methods to calibrate a photogrammetric-based mobile mapping system. The paper is organised as follow. The first part presents the problem we are trying to solve, i.e. the calibration of multi-camera head on a mobile mapping system equipped with an Inertial Navigation System (INS). We want to estimate on the one hand the relative pose of images within the head and on the other hand the relative pose between the head and the INS The second part presents the first calibration method which is based on observations of a sub-millimeter accuracy topometric target network. The third part explores a method to determine the calibration on-line, i.e. using the images acquired during the surveys. The final section compare the two methods on an neutral data set and resumes the pros and cons of each method.

Line-Based Registration of Panoramic Images and LiDAR Point Clouds for Mobile Mapping

For multi-sensor integrated systems, such as the mobile mapping system (MMS), data fusion at sensor-level, i.e., the 2D-3D registration between an optical camera and LiDAR, is a prerequisite for higher level fusion and further applications. This paper proposes a line-based registration method for panoramic images and a LiDAR point cloud collected by a MMS. We first introduce the system configur...

Model-based Calibration for Sensor Networks

Calibration is the process of mapping raw sensor readings into corrected values by identifying and correcting systematic bias. Calibration is important from both off-line and on-line perspectives. Major objectives of calibration procedure include accuracy, resiliency against random errors, ability to be applied in various scenarios, and to address a variety of error models. In addition, a compa...

Robot Navigation Using Panoramic Landmark Tracking

A vision based navigation system is presented for determining a mobile robot’s position and orientation using panoramic imagery. Omni-directional sensors are useful in obtaining a field of view, permitting objects in the vicinity of a robot to be imaged simultaneously. Recognizing landmarks in a panoramic image from an a priori model of distinct features in an environment allows a robot’s locat...

A Flexible Framework for Mobile Robot Pose Estimation and Multi-Sensor Self-Calibration

The design and the development of the position and orientation tracking system of a mobile robot, and the calibration of its sensor parameters (e.g., displacement, misalignment and iron distortions), are challenging and time consuming tasks in every autonomous robotics project. The ROAMFREE framework delivers turn-on-and-go multi-sensors pose tracking and self-calibration modules and it is desi...

Change Detection Methods for Automatic Scene Analysis by Using Mobile Surveillance Cameras

This paper proposes a video-surveillance system based on a mobile-camera. In particular the developed system creates (during the off-line phase) a panoramic multilayer background image allowing one to use common change detection algorithms to search for a change detection binary image. Different approaches to get the change detection images are presented. Performances of the implemented algorit...
