چکیده

1. I N T R O D U C T I O N We study high-resolution finite-volume methods for the one-dimensional conservation law qt + f (q ) z = ~ (x ,q ) (1) on a moving grid, where the interface x~ between grid cells varies with time t~. Figure 1 shows a typical moving grid over one time step. We show how the wave-propagation algorithms developed in [1] and implemented in the CLAWPACK software [2] can be modified to handle moving grids. and consider applications to gas dynamics in a tube with moving-piston boundary conditions and also a moving interface between two gases. With a finite volume method, our approximation consists of cell averages 1 f~ x,~+l '~ q(x, t~) dx, The first author would like to express his thanks for the support by a NATO-CNR grant (No. 217.28/01) and the kind hospitality of the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Washington University. ForestClaw: A parallel algorithm for patch-based adaptive mesh refinement on a forest of quadtrees

We describe a parallel, adaptive, multiblock algorithm for explicit integration of time dependent partial differential equations on two-dimensional Cartesian grids. The grid layout we consider consists of a nested hierarchy of fixed size, non-overlapping, logically Cartesian grids stored as leaves in a quadtree. Dynamic grid refinement and parallel partitioning of the grids is done through the ...

Optimal Pareto Parametric Analysis of Two Dimensional Steady-State Heat Conduction Problems by MLPG Method

Numerical solutions obtained by the Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method are presented for two dimensional steady-state heat conduction problems. The MLPG method is a truly meshless approach, and neither the nodal connectivity nor the background mesh is required for solving the initial-boundary-value problem. The penalty method is adopted to efficiently enforce the essential boundary co...

Moving Mesh Finite Volume Methods for One-dimensional Evolutionary Partial Diierential Equations

Finite volume moving mesh methods are developed for unsteady one-dimensional partial diierential equations. The methods can be viewed as conservative discretisations of the Lagrangian form of the original diier-ential equations. Grid points are moved using the idea of mesh equidistri-bution. The coupled unsteady diierential equations and grid movement equations are solved using a robust and eec...

A Splitting Moving Mesh Method for 3-D Quenching and Blow-Up Problems

We present a splitting moving mesh method for multi-dimensional reaction-diffusion problems with nonlinear forcing terms over rectangular domains. The structure of the adaptive algorithm is an elegant combination of an operator splitting and one-dimensional moving mesh. It is motivated by the nature of splitting method, which splits a multi-dimensional problems into a few one-dimensional proble...

Helicopter Rotor Airloads Prediction Using CFD and Flight Test Measurement in Hover Flight

An implicit unsteady upwind solver including a mesh motion approach was applied to simulate a helicopter including body, main rotor and tail rotor in hover flight. The discretization was based on a second order finite volume approach with fluxes given by the Roeand#39;s scheme. Discretization of Geometric Conservation Laws (GCL) was devised in such a way that the three-dimensional flows on arbi...
