چکیده

INTRODUCTION Accurate and precise determination of inorganic As (III/V) redox species is important in the interpretation of its toxicity and mobility in acid mine waters. Several analytical methods use arsine generation to separate arsenic species but high metal concentrations can suppress arsine production (Creed and others 1996). The potential inhibition of arsine formation by eleven metal species including Cu, Fe(III), Fe(II), Al, Cd, Mn, Zn, Co, Ni, Cr(III), and Cr(VI) ranging in concentration from 0-1000 mg/L was investigated with a flow injection analysis system (FIAS) and detection by atomic absorption spectrometry. Interfering metal cation species can be removed with cation exchange resin while maintaining existing As(III)/As(T) ratios (As(T)=As(III+V)). The pre-analysis separation of Fe(III) using cation exchange resin for the determination of As redox species using ion chromatography in iron sulfate-sulfuric acid media has been successfully performed in the past (Tan and Dutrizac, 1985). Oxidation of As(III) by Fe(III) was also investigated.

Determination of arsenic(III) by flow injection solid phase extraction coupled with on-line hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry using a PTFE turnings-packed micro-column.

A novel flow injection (FI) solid phase extraction method for the determination of arsenic(III) at trace levels was developed, using on-line hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HG-AAS). Selective determination of As(III) was achieved by on-line formation and retention of the pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate arsenic complex As(III)-PDC on the PTFE turnings which are packed in the preco...

Speciation of Arsenic(III)/Arsenic(V) and Selenium(IV)/Selenium(VI) Using Coupled Ion Chromatography– Hydride Generation Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

Simple analytical methods have been developed to speciate inorganic As and Se in the microgram per liter range using coupled ion chromatography–hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry. Because of the differences in toxicity and adsorption behavior, determinations of the redox states arsenite, As(III), and arsenate, As(V), and selenite, Se(IV), and selenate, Se(VI), are important. Anio...

Arsenic and antimony determination in refined and unrefined table salts by means of hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry–comparison of sample decomposition and determination methods

An evaluation was made of different digestion methods for the determination of arsenic and antimony in table salt samples prior to hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric analysis. Microwave acid digestion, classical wet digestion, dry ashing, and fusion were applied to the decomposition of salt samples and optimum conditions were investigated. Samples were decomposed by changing hea...

Determination of inorganic arsenic and its organic metabolites in urine by flow-injection hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry.

A method has been developed for the determination of inorganic arsenic [As(III) and As(V)] and its organic metabolites (monomethylarsenic and dimethylarsenic) in urine by flow-injection hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry. The nontoxic seafood-derived arsenobetaine and arsenocholine species were first separated by a solid-phase extraction procedure. The remaining sample was digest...
