Radio Resource Management for Fast Fading Environments
نویسندگان
چکیده
Adaptive resource allocation based on perfect Channel State Information (CSI) can significantly improve the performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems. However, in real systems, accurate CSI is impossible because of noisy channel estimates, channel feedback delays, and processing delays. Therefore, only imperfect CSI can be used for resource allocation purposes. In this paper, we minimize the impact of errors caused by imperfect CSI and evaluate the significance of periodic CSI feedback in a fast fading environment. In a fast fading environment, periodic CSI feedback requires a high overhead load; and the uplink resources reserved for feedback purposes are limited. Thus, we present a strategy that optimizes the usage of those uplink resources. Simulation results show that this strategy leads to a higher overall fairness and system throughput.

Copyright may be transferred without notice, after which this version may no longer be accessible. 2 Abstract A large number of radio resource management algorithms rely on accurate measurements of the signal to interference ratio (SIR). We propose a simple, fast SIR estimator for narrow-band M-PSK modulated signals (M > 2). T...
متن کاملOptimization of Radio Measurements Exploitation in Wireless Mobile Networks
Radio measurements play a crucial role in mobile wireless networks as they are input of Radio Resource Management (RRM) mechanisms, needed to assess mobile network reliability and to supervise the planned coverage area. Nevertheless, these measurements are used in their crude state without any additional intelligent treatment whereas they are a rich and unexploited source of information for the...
متن کاملAdaptive resource allocation in composite fading environments
We obtain optimal resource allocation policies for a single user single-carrier system and a multiple-access multi-carrier-CDMA system when the transmitter adapts to the variations in the short-term mean (slow fade) in a combined slow and fast fading (composite fading) environment. For the single user system, we maximize the average throughput achieved by the user, while in the uplink MCCDMA sy...
متن کاملResource Allocation in Multi-Service Wireless Access Networks
Wireless Access Networks offer an alternative method for connecting subscribers to the global telecommunication networks. They will become widespread only if they can provide an attractive set of communication services at competitive prices and quality. Fundamental to achieving these goals is how the scarce radio frequency is managed. We evaluate a few alternative resource management principles...
متن کاملEfficient Detection Using Sequential Probability Ratio Test in Mobile Cognitive Radio Systems
This paper proposes a smart design strategy for a sequential detector to reliably detect the primary user’s signal, especially in fast fading environments. We study the computation of the log-likelihood ratio for coping with a fast changing received signal and noise sample variances, which are considered random variables. First, we analyze the detectability of the conventional generalized log-l...
