چکیده

We contribute a large scale database for 3D object recognition, named ObjectNet3D, that consists of 100 categories, 90,127 images, 201,888 objects in these images and 44,147 3D shapes. Objects in the 2D images in our database are aligned with the 3D shapes, and the alignment provides both accurate 3D pose annotation and the closest 3D shape annotation for each 2D object. Consequently, our database is useful for recognizing the 3D pose and 3D shape of objects from 2D images. We also provide baseline experiments on four tasks: region proposal generation, 2D object detection, joint 2D detection and 3D object pose estimation, and image-based 3D shape retrieval, which can serve as baselines for future research using our database. Our database is available online at http://cvgl.stanford.edu/projects/objectnet3d.

RotationNet: Joint Object Categorization and Pose Estimation Using Multiviews from Unsupervised Viewpoints

The recent popularization of depth sensors and the availability of large-scale 3D model databases such as ShapeNet have drawn increased attention to 3D object recognition. Despite the convenience of using 3D models captured offline, we are allowed to observe only a single view of an object at once, with the exception of the use of special environments such as multi-camera studios. This impedes ...

3D Object Recognition by Eigen-Scale-Space of Contours

People often recognize 3D objects by their boundary shape. Designing an algorithm for such a task is interesting and useful for retrieving objects from a shape database. In this paper, we present a fast 2-stage algorithm for recognizing 3D objects using a new feature space, built from curvature scale space images, as a shape representation that is scale, translation, rotation and reflection inv...

Shoslif-o: Shoslif for Object Recognition and Image Retrieval (phase Ii)

We describe a self-organizing framework for content-based retrieval of images from large image databases. The SHOSLIF (Self-organizing Hierarchical Optimal Subspace Learning and Inference Framework) system uses the theories of optimal linear projection for automatic optimal feature selection and a hierarchical image database organization to achieve a logarithmic retrieval complexity. We use inc...

CAD-based computer vision: from CAD models to relational graphs

3D object recognition is a difficult and yet an important problem in computer vision. A 3D object recognition system has two major componenb, object modeling (or representation) and matching stored representations to those derived from the sensed image. In this paper, we focus on the topic of model-buildingfor 3D objecb. Most existing 3D object recognition systems construct models either manual...

Learning to Recognize 3D Objects with SNoW

This paper describes a novel view-based learning algorithm for 3D object recognition from 2D images using a network of linear units. The SNoW learning architecture is a sparse network of linear functions over a pre-defined or incrementally learned feature space and is specifically tailored for learning in the presence of a very large number of features. We use pixel-based and edge-based represe...
