STREET R., SZÁKOVÁ J., DRÁBEK O., MLÁDKOVÁ L. (2006): The status of micronutrients (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn) in tea and tea infusions in selected samples imported to the Czech Republic. Czech J. Food Sci., 24: 62–71. A total of 30 tea samples of different origins, thirteen green tea samples, thirteen black tea samples, two semi-fermented tea samples and one white tea, imported to the Czech Republic, were collected and analysed for the total content of copper, iron, manganese, and zinc in tea leaves and tea infusions. The total contents of metals in tea leaves differ according to the type of tea (green or black) and are probably influenced by many other factors, e.g. soil properties. The total contents of Mn were much higher compared to the total contents of Cu, Fe, and Zn, and varied between 511–2220 mg/kg. To compare easily hot water soluble concentrations of Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn, 5 min, 60 min, and 24 h infusions were prepared. The extractability of the elements was in the order Cu > Zn > Mn > Fe. The proportions of the element contents in the infusion related to the respective total contents in leaves were 30 ± 16% Cu, 26 ± 10% Zn, 18 ± 10% Mn, and 1.5 ± 0.8% Fe, respectively. The results confirmed that tea infusion can be an important dietary source of Mn.

A study was designed to evaluate the micronutrients status of soils of district Palandri, Azad Kashmir and to correlate the micronutrients with Physico-chemical characteristics of soil as well as to categorize the soils as high, medium and low in Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn and HWS B. Soil samples were collected from thirty wheat fields and thirty apple orchard soils during 2003. None of the soil sample was...
متن کاملHeavy Metal Concentration in Black Tea in Iran
Background & Aims of the Study: Tea is one of the most important beverages that consumes in several parts of the world including Iran. Tea plant can be contaminated during manufacturing processes and growth period by pollutants such as heavy metals. In this study, the concentration of some heavy metals in different brands of both Iranian and imported black tea to Iran was inves...
متن کاملEvaluating the Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, and Copper levels in certain imported tea samples consumed in Iran
Seven majorly consumed brands of several teas (A1, A2, M1, M2, S, D, and C teas) were selected for the present study. In this study, the heavy metal contents including copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), and lead (Pb) were assessed in the black tea samples consumed in Iran. The content of the heavy metals in the samples was analyzed using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). Notably, the ...

Influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) (Glomus etunicatum, G. intraradices and Glomus versiforme) and external phosphorus supplement (8 and 35 mg P Kg-1 soil) on leaf P, Zn, Cu and Fe nutrition of 4-month-old tea(Camellia sinensis) was studied in an glass house pot experiment. The highest leaf P concentration (up to 59.43% increase) was found in G. versiforme inoculated seedlings gro...

The present study measured the concentrations of toxic metals (Cd, Pb) and other elements (Ca, K, Mg, Na, P, Mn, Fe, Zn, Cu, Co, Cr, Ni) in tea leaves and their infusions. The total metal contents were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. Phosphorus concentration was determined using an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. Assessment of the mineral composition enabled determination o...
