چکیده
Semileptonic heavy → heavy and heavy → light meson transitions are studied as a phenomenological application of a heavy-quark limit of Dyson-Schwinger equations. Employing two parameters: E, the difference between the mass of the heavy meson and the effective-mass of the heavy quark; and Λ, the width of the heavy-meson Bethe-Salpeter amplitude, we calculate f+(t) for all decays on their entire kinematically accessible t-domain. Our study favours fB in the range 0.135-0.17GeV and with E = 0.44GeV and 1/Λ = 0.14 fm we obtain fBπ + (0) = 0.46. As a result of neglecting 1/mc-corrections, we estimate that our calculated values of ρ2 = 0.87 and fDK + (0) = 0.62 are too low by approximately 15%. However, the bulk of these corrections should cancel in our calculated values of Br(D → πlν)/Br(D → Klν) = 0.13 and fDπ + (0)/f DK + (0) = 1.16. Typeset using REVTEX

The production of hadrons in Ni–Ni at the GSI is considered in a hadronic gas model with chemical equilibrium. Special attention is given to the abundance of strange particles which are treated using the exact conservation of strangeness. It is found that all the data can be described using a temperature T = 70± 10 MeV and a baryon chemical potential μB = 720± 20 MeV. Typeset using REVTEX 1

Chiral symmetry serves as a guiding principle in low-energy hadron dynamics. An effective lagrangian, which explicitly breaks chiral symmetry via a small mass term, allows for a systematic method of calculating higher order corrections to tree-level results. This is applied to radiative muon capture on hydrogen, and to proton-proton π 0 production near threshold. Both processes pose theoretical...
