چکیده

RECENTL Y we reported that. in human liver transplantation, a preservation period of greater than 20 hours caused the rate of graft failure to increase nonlinearly.l Even with University of Wisconsin (UW) solution. there is a finite limit to the permissible time of cold storage of livers. In this study, we investigated whether microcirculatory disturbance during and after preservation is correlated to cold ischemia and graft outcome.

Effect of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO) added to the University of Wisconsin solution (UW): II) Functional response to cold preservation/reperfusion of rat liver.

Livers cold preserved in University of Wisconsin (UW) solution followed by reperfusion suffer ischemia/reperfusion injuries. Microcirculation is the primary target of damage, characterized by sinusoidal perfusion failure due, mainly, to morphological changes of sinusoidal endothelial cells. Here, we demonstrated that the addition of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO) to the UW solution before cold sto...

Protection of mitochondria during cold storage of liver and following transplantation: comparison of the two solutions, University of Wisconsin and Eurocollins.

Injury to allografts during ischaemia/reperfusion contribute to the development of graft failure following transplantation with significant morbidity and mortality to patients. The development of University of Wisconsin solution has significantly improved the quality of graft preservation and transplant outcome relative to formerly used solutions such as Eurocollins. The aim of this study was t...

The benefit of adding sodium nitroprusside (NPNa) or S-nitrosoglutathion (GSNO) to the University of Wisconsin solution (UW) to prevent morphological alterations during cold preservation/reperfusion of rat livers.

Cold liver preservation in the University of Wisconsin solution (UW) followed by reperfusion alters hepatic parenchyma and extra cellular matrix. In this study we analyzed the benefit of adding either 500 microM Sodium Nitroprusside (NPNa) or 100 microM S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO) as Nitric Oxide (NO) donors to the UW solution to prevent hepatic injury. Wistar adult rat livers were stored in UW...

Influence of graft perfusion pressure on graft viability after small bowel preservation and transplantation.

THERE have been conflicting reports on the effectiveness of University of Wisconsin (UW) solution for experimental small bowel preservation.14 The source of variation in these conflicting studies may be technical differences in the perfusion of UW solution through the graft. Inadequate graft perfusion may cause destruction of the microcirculation and destruction of cellular integrity. In this s...

The use of the University of Wisconsin (UW) and Euro-Collins (EC) solutions either alone or in a combined method.

From June 1988 to October 1990, a total of 100 orthotopic liver transplantations (OLTs) in 91 patients were performed at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona. Euro-Collins (EC) solution was used as the flush and storage solution in 29 livers, and the University of Wisconsin (UW) solution was used in 24. A combined method, consisting of flushing and harvesting the liver with UW solution through the ...
