Detection of a PSK signal transmitted through a hard-limited channel

چکیده
This paper considers the problem of the detection of a binary phase-modulated carrier which has been transmitted along with noise through a hard-limiting repeater, corrupted by additional noise, and demodulated by cross correlation and sampling at the receiver. Three equivalent expressions are obtained for the error probability of the receiver output. Two of these expressions take the form of an infinite series involving either confluent hypergeometric functions or modified Bessel functions. A third form allows representation of the error probability in terms of Rice's le function. In the special case where the signalto-noise ratios Pi^ and p2^ at the limiter and receiver inputs are equal, the error probability is simply Pe = iexp i-pi^). Asymptotic expressions for the error probability for large and small signal-to-noise ratios are also derived. The error probability is found to be smaller than that of a linear system for all practical values of limiter and receiver input signal-to-noise ratios. The optimum repeater nonlinearity is investigated and is shown to be a limiter at such signal-to-noise ratios. Manuscript received April 21, 1972; revised February 16, 1973. P. C. Dpsk vs. Pilot-aided Psk Map Equalization for Fast-fading Channels
In this paper, we extend our recent work in maximum a posteriori (MAP) equalization for frequency-selective fast-fading channels to the case of diieren-tially encoded transmitted symbols. The equalizer employs an expanded trellis for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization. Channel estimation is performed using minimum mean square error (MMSE) techniques coupled with the hypoth...
متن کاملSignal detection Using Rational Function Curve Fitting
In this manuscript, we proposed a new scheme in communication signal detection which is respect to the curve shape of received signal and based on the extraction of curve fitting (CF) features. This feature extraction technique is proposed for signal data classification in receiver. The proposed scheme is based on curve fitting and approximation of rational fraction coefficients. For each symbo...
متن کاملComputationally Efficient Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation and Activity Detection for M -PSK Signals in Unknown Flat Fading Channels
In this paper, we develop a computationally efficient algorithm for the Maximum Likelihood (ML) sequences estimation (MLSE) of an M-ary Phase Shift keying (M–PSK) signal transmitted over a frequency non-selective slow fading channel with an unknown complex amplitude and an unknown variance additive white Gaussian noise. The proposed algorithm also provides the ML estimates of the complex amplit...
متن کامل"Turbo DPSK": iterative differential PSK demodulation and channel decoding
Multiple-symbol differential detection is known to fill the gap between conventional differential detection of PSK ( -DPSK) and coherent detection of -PSK with differential encoding ( -DEPSK). Emphasis has been so far on soft-input/hard-output detectors applied in uncoded systems. In this paper, we investigate a receiver structure suitable for coded DPSK signals on static and time-varying chann...
متن کاملPerformances of Regenerative and Non- Regenerative Satellite Repeaters with Mpsk Signalling
Linear (translation), hard-limited, and demod/remod types of satellite repeaters are considered in this paper. Both uncoded and coded multiple phase shift keyed (MPSK) signals are assumed to be transmitted through these repeaters. Relative performances of these repeaters in the presence of uplink and downlink noises are then compared quantitively. Probabilities of bit errors and the computation...
