The Straining Procedure as an Aid in the Anatomic Localization of Cardiovascular Murmurs and Sounds
نویسنده
چکیده
M\ost heart murmurs diminish in intensity during straining. Those derived from the right heart and pulmonary circulation regain intensity immediately after straining. Those from the left heart and systemic circulation recover only after an appreciable delay. The murmurs of patent ductus arteriosue and of mitral stenosis each showed a modified, but characteristic response. These murmur changes were correlated with recorded dynamic cardiovascular changes produced by straining.

Heart sounds and heart murmurs separation
The Heart sounds and murmurs provide crucial diagnosis information for several heart diseases such as natural or prosthetic valve dysfunction and heart failure. Many pathological conditions of the cardiovascular system cause murmurs and aberrations in heart sounds. Phonocardiography provides the clinician with a complementary tool to record the heart sounds heard during auscultation. The advanc...
متن کاملA survey on the prevalence of heart murmurs in polo horses
Background: Cardiac murmur and subsequently cardiac failure is one of the poor-performance causes in athletic horses. Attention to murmur character is vital during heart examination. Polo is a sport which demands very high stress on horses, which may result in more stress on cardiovascular system. Objectives: In this study we assume that high pressure on polo horses makes them more susceptible ...
متن کاملVibrotactile Identification of Signal-Processed Sounds from Environmental Events Presented by a Portable Vibrator: A Laboratory Study
Objectives: To evaluate different signal-processing algorithms for tactile identification of environmental sounds in a monitoring aid for the deafblind. Two men and three women, sensorineurally deaf or profoundly hearing impaired with experience of vibratory experiments, age 22-36 years. Methods: A closed set of 45 representative environmental sounds were processed using two transposing (TRH...
متن کاملIntracardiac phonocardiogram in thirty cases of atrial septal defect.
Thirty cases of atrial septal defect proved by cardiac catheterization, surgery, or post-morten examination have been investigated with the technic of intracardiac phonocar-diography, which provided precise localization of the source of heart sounds and murmurs. The site and mechanism of origin of the many auscultatory signs in uncomplicated atrial septal defect and in cases of Lutembacher's sy...
متن کاملAlveolar Antral Artery: Review of Surgical Techniques Involving this Anatomic Structure
Introduction: The horizontal bony canal in the lateral maxillary wall is the site of anastomosis between the arterial branches from the posterior superior alveolar artery (PSAa) and the infraorbital artery. This anatomic structure is known as the ‘alveolar antral artery’. Materials and Methods: We performed a literature review. The anatomic location of the alveolar antral artery in the latera...
