چکیده

We review the properties of the quantum relative entropy function and discuss its application to problems of classical and quantum information transfer and to quantum data compression. We then outline further uses of relative entropy to quantify quantum entanglement and analyze its manipulation. 1 Quantum relative entropy In this paper we discuss several uses of the quantum relative entropy function in quantum information theory. Relative entropy methods have a number of advantages. First of all, the relative entropy functional satisfies some strong identities and inequalities, providing a basis for good theorems. Secondly, the relative entropy has a natural interpretation in terms of the statistical distinguishability of quantum states; closely related to this is the picture of relative entropy as a “distance” measure between density operators. These interpretations of the relative entropy give insight about the meaning of the mathematical constructions that use it. Finally, relative entropy has found a wide variety of applications in quantum information theory.

A review of quantum thermodynamics

In this article, we present a brief and elementary review of quantum thermodynamics and its achievements and challenges. This review includes an introduction to some fundamental concepts such as internal energy, heat, work, entropy, entropy production, thermal equilibrium, second law of quantum thermodynamics, relation between thermodynamics and information theory, as well as a discussion of ho...

Some properties of the parametric relative operator entropy

The notion of entropy was introduced by Clausius in 1850, and some of the main steps towards the consolidation of the concept were taken by Boltzmann and Gibbs. Since then several extensions and reformulations have been developed in various disciplines with motivations and applications in different subjects, such as statistical mechanics, information theory, and dynamical systems. Fujii and Kam...

A Game Theoretic Approach to Quantum Information

In this project, bridging entropy econometrics, game theory and information theory, a game theoretic approach will be investigated to quantum information, during which new mathematical definitions for quantum relative entropy, quantummutual information, and quantum channel capacity will be given and monotonicity of entangled quantum relative entropy and additivity of quantum channel capacity wi...

Relative entropies in conformal field theory.

Relative entropy is a measure of distinguishability for quantum states, and it plays a central role in quantum information theory. The family of Renyi entropies generalizes to Renyi relative entropies that include, as special cases, most entropy measures used in quantum information theory. We construct a Euclidean path-integral approach to Renyi relative entropies in conformal field theory, the...

Monotonicity of quantum relative entropy and recoverability

The relative entropy is a principal measure of distinguishability in quantum information theory, with its most important property being that it is non-increasing under noisy quantum operations. Here, we establish a remainder term for this inequality that quantifies how well one can recover from a loss of information by employing a rotated Petz recovery map. The main approach for proving this re...
