Sl2(r), Exponential Herglotz Representations, and Spectral Averaging

چکیده
We revisit the concept of spectral averaging and point out its origin in connection with one-parameter subgroups of SL2(R) and the corresponding Möbius transformations. In particular, we identify exponential Herglotz representations as the basic ingredient for the absolute continuity of average spectral measures with respect to Lebesgue measure and the associated spectral shift function as the corresponding density for the averaged measure. As a by-product of our investigations we unify the treatment of rank-one perturbations of self-adjoint operators and that of self-adjoint extensions of symmetric operators with deficiency indices (1, 1). Moreover, we derive separate averaging results for absolutely continuous, singularly continuous, and pure point measures and conclude with an averaging result of the κ-continuous part (with respect to the κ-dimensional Hausdorff measure) of singularly continuous measures.

The Spectral Shift Operator
We introduce the concept of a spectral shift operator and use it to derive Krein's spectral shift function for pairs of self-adjoint operators. Our principal tools are operator-valued Herglotz functions and their logarithms. Applications to Krein's trace formula and to the Birman-Solomyak spectral averaging formula are discussed.

We prove a general Borg-type inverse spectral result for a reflectionless unitary CMV operator (CMV for Cantero, Moral, and Velázquez [13]) associated with matrix-valued Verblunsky coefficients. More precisely, we find an explicit formula for the Verblunsky coefficients of a reflectionless CMV matrix whose spectrum consists of a connected arc on the unit circle. This extends a recent result [39...

We examine two kinds of spectral theoretic situations: First, we recall the case of self-adjoint half-line Schrödinger operators on [a,∞), a ∈ R, with a regular finite end point a and the case of Schrödinger operators on the real line with locally integrable potentials, which naturally lead to Herglotz functions and 2 × 2 matrix-valued Herglotz functions representing the associated Weyl–Titchma...
متن کاملIrreducibility criterion for a finite-dimensional highest weight representation of the sl2 loop algebra and the dimensions of reducible representations
We show a necessary and sufficient condition for a finite-dimensional highest weight representation of the sl2 loop algebra to be irreducible. We present an algorithm by which we can construct all possible finite-dimensional highest weight representations that have the same given highest weight. For two simple cases, we derive dimensions of all such reducible representations, explicitly. The re...
