چکیده
We report results of molecular dynamics simulations to understand the role of solute and solute-solvent interaction on solute diffusivity in a solid solution within a body centered cubic solid when the solute size is significantly smaller than the size of the solvent atom. Results show that diffusivity is maximum for two specific sizes of the solute atom. This is the first time that twin maxima have been found. The solute with diffusivity maxima are larger in case of rigid host as compared to flexible host. This suggests that the effect of lattice vibrations is to decrease the size at which the maximum is seen. For one of the ǫuv where two diffusivity maxima have been observed, we have analyzed various properties to understand the anomalous diffusion behavior. It is characterized by a lower activation energy, lower backscattering in the velocity autocorrelation function, lower mean square force, single exponential decay of the intermediate scattering function and monotonic dependence on k of the ∆ω/2Dk where ∆ω is the fwhm of the self part of the dynamic structure factor. Among the two solute atoms at the anomalous maxima, the solute with higher diffusivity has lower activation energy.

Evaluation of adsorption efficiency of activated carbon/chitosan composite for removal of Cr (VI) and Cd (II) from single and bi-solute dilute solution
The aim of this study was to evaluate the adsorption capacity of the novel coated activated carbon by chitosan for removal of Cr (VI) and Cd (II) ions from single and bi-solute dilute aqueous solutions. In addition, the adsorption abilities of activated carbon (AC), chitosan (CH) and chitosan / activated carbon composite (CHAC) have been compared. Adsorption studies were performed in a batch sy...

A modified embedded-atom method (MEAM) interatomic potential for the Fe–C binary system has been developed using previous MEAM potentials of Fe and C. The potential parameters were determined by fitting to experimental information on the dilute heat of solution of carbon, the vacancy–carbon binding energy and its configuration, the location of interstitial carbon atoms and the migration energy ...

The dynamics of totally symmetric free massless higher spin fields in AdS d is reformulated in terms of the compensator formalism for AdS gravity. The AdS 5 higher spin algebra is identified with the star product algebra with the su(2, 2) vector (i.e., o(4, 2) spinor) generating elements. Cubic interactions of the totally symmetric bosonic higher spin gauge fields in AdS 5 , including the inter...

Abstract A simple unified closed form derivation of the non-linearities of the Einstein, Yang-Mills and spinless (e.g., chiral) meson systems is given. For the first two, the non-linearities are required by locality and consistency; in all cases, they are determined by the conserved cu...

In two dimensions the Gross-Pitaevskii equation for a cold, dilute gas of bosons has an energy dependent coupling parameter describing particle interactions. We present numerical solutions of this equation for bosons in harmonic traps and show that the results can be quite sensitive to the precise form of the coupling parameter that is used. Solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation in two dim...
