چکیده

INTRODUCTION Noninvasive medical diagnostics and treatment tools are significantly increasing the pool of effective choices that are available to doctors and surgeons. Every part of the human body has already been explored with such tools and the reported success is very encouraging. With limited capability, visual and acoustic methods have been in use as diagnostic and NDT tools for hundreds of years. The introduction of such methods as radiography, MRI, magnetic field treatment and ultrasonics as well as computers and imaging devices made an innumerous impact on both fields. Ultrasound offers a wide range of possibilities and capabilities since the wave can be used in a broad frequency range, having variety of modes and can be operated in low and high power levels. Some of the most widely known applications are fetus imaging and kidney stones destruction. Medical ultrasonics offers safe, accurate and cost-effective tools, where no known health hazard is associated with its use at low power.

Minimally invasive diagnostics and treatment using micro/nano machining.

Several medical tools with various functions have been developed for minimally invasive diagnostics and treatment. Microfabrication techniques such as MEMS technology are useful for the realization of high-performance multifunctional minimally invasive medical tools with small sizes. An ultra-miniature pressure sensor and an intravascular ultrasonic forward-viewing imager have been developed as...

Noninvasive ultrasonic measuring system for bone geometry examination.

BACKGROUND Bone deformities are typically identified through standard radiograms. Since X-ray examinations are easily applied and offer high quality imaging, noninvasive techniques are not commonly used in bone diagnostics. Nevertheless, nonradiological techniques are considered necessary because of the harmful effects of X-ray radiation. METHODS The paper presents a new noninvasive system fo...

Protective Role of Hypothermia Against Heat Stress in Differentiated and Undifferentiated Human Neural Precursor Cells: A Differential Approach for the Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury

Introduction: The present study aimed to explore protective mechanisms of hypothermia against mild cold and heat stress on highly proliferative homogeneous human Neural Precursor Cells (NPCs) derived from Subventricular Zone (SVZ) of human fetal brain.  Methods: CD133+ve enriched undifferentiated and differentiated human NPCs were exposed to heat stress at 42°C. Then, Western-blot qua...

Analysis of ultrasonically extracted interstitial fluid as a predictor of blood glucose levels.

Transdermal extraction of clinically relevant analytes offers a potentially noninvasive method of diagnostics. However, development of such a method is limited by the low permeability of skin. In this paper, we present a potential method for noninvasive diagnostics based on ultrasonic skin permeabilization and subsequent extraction of interstitial fluid (ISF) across the skin using vacuum. ISF e...
