چکیده

We analyze the proton electromagnetic form factor ratio R(Q) = QF2(Q 2)/F1(Q ) as a function of momentum transfer Q within perturbative QCD. We find that the prediction for R(Q) at large momentum transfer Q depends on the exclusive quark wave functions, which are unknown. For a wide range of wave functions we find that QF2/F1 ∼ const at large momentum transfer, in agreement with recent JLAB data. The recent JLAB measurement of the Proton Electromagnetic Form Factor ratio [1, 2, 3] shows the puzzling behavior R(Q2) = QF2(Q )/F1(Q 2) ∼ const. at large Q. The form factors F1 and F2 are defined by the standard relation, < p′, s|J|p, s >= N̄(P ′, s′) ( γF1(Q ) + iσqν F2(Q 2) 2M )

Electromagnetic Form Factors and the Localization of Quark Orbital Angular Momentum in the Proton

Deeply inelastic scattering experiments contradict the notion that the proton’s spin is the sum of the spins of the quarks. The s-wave non-relativistic bound state picture of the proton has then been ruled out. Consequently there is great interest in the orbital angular momentum of quarks and the spin of gluons. While the spin of gluons is difficult to define gauge invariantly, the orbital angu...

Proton Spin Content From Lattice QCD

We calculate the form factor of the quark energy momentum tensor and thereby extract the quark orbital angular momentum of the nucleon. The calculation is done on a quenched 16 × 24 lattice at β = 6.0 and with Wilson fermions at κ = 0.148, 0.152, 0.154 and 0.155. We calculate the disconnected insertion stochastically which employs the Z2 noise with an unbiased subtraction. This proves to be an ...

Quark Orbital Angular Momentum from Lattice QCD

employs the Z2 noise with an unbiased subtraction. This reduced the error by a factor of 4 with negligible overhead. The total quark contribution to the proton spin is found to be 0.30±0.07. From this and the quark spin content we deduce the quark orbital angular momentum to be 0.17 ± 0.06 which is ∼ 34% of the proton spin. We further predict that the gluon angular momentum to be 0.20 ± 0.07, i...

Generalized Parton Distributions from Form Factors *

The electromagnetic nucleon form factors provide constraints on generalized quark distributions. Key results of the study presented here are a strong dependence of the average impact parameter of quarks on their longitudinal momentum fraction, a striking difference in the t dependence of u and d quark contributions to elastic form factors, and an estimate of the orbital angular momentum carried...

Nucleon Spin Content from Elastic Form Factor Data

I use the formalism of skewed parton distributions (SPD) to describe elastic form factors of the nucleon. The results are consistent with approximate dipole behavior of GMp(Q ) and recent JLab data for the ratio of the proton form factors GEp/GMp at Q 2 ≤ 3.5 GeV. Using the Angular Momentum Sum Rule, I obtain a numerical estimate for the valence quark contributions to the nucleon spin at the le...
