Solubility of calcium phosphates.

چکیده
Solubil ity is one of the most important properties of calcium phosphate salts. It is the solubil ity that determines the direction of many reactions that involve calcium phosphates such as dissolution, precipitation, hydrolysis, and phase transformation. Calcium phosphate solubil ity also plays a maior role in biological processes that involve formation and resorption ol' hard tissues as well as pathological calcif ications. This chapter wil l focus on concepts that would aid in gaining a better understanding of the solubil ity behavior of calcium phosphzrtes, rather than provide a survey of the l iterature, which has been g iven e lsewhere [El l io t . 1994] . Solubi l i ty is convent ional ly descr ibcd ns the nmount of a sol id that can d isst> lve in to a uni t vo lume of solution. Fclr calcium phosphates, this quantity often changes by several orders of magnitucle with changes in the pH and concentrations of acids and bases, such as HCI and NaOH. Thus, on the surface. the solubil ity may appear to be a complex function of these solution parameters. However, a clearer picture o1 the solubil ity properties for calcium phosphates can be gainecl by understanding the basic principles governing the solid-solution equil ibrium.

In Vitro Investigation of Bioactive Glass-Ceramic Composites Based on Biogenic Hydroxyapatite or Synthetic Calcium Phosphates
This in vitro investigation of the behavior of two types of calcium phosphate glass ceramics on the basis of phosphates of biogenic or synthetic origin prepared from initial mixtures with different particle size has revealed that some different factors affect the behavior, namely the phase composition of composite, fraction of open porosity, and average diameter of pore channels. It was establi...

متن کاملPreparation and Properties of Nanoparticles of Calcium Phosphates With Various Ca/P Ratios
This study aimed at preparing and studying the properties of nanoparticles of calcium phosphate (nCaP) with Ca/P ratios ranging from 1.0 to 1.67 using a spray-drying technique. Micro-structural analyses suggested that the nCaPs with Ca/P ratios of 1.67 to 1.33 were nano-sized amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) containing varying amounts of acid phosphate and carbonate. The nCaP with Ca/P ratio o...

Experimental data were collected on the solubility equilibrium of the mineral of bone, tooth enamel and calcium phosphate renal stones. Evaluation in the form of potential diagrams of Ca(OH)2 versus H3PO4 shows that Ca/P ratios of 1, 4/3, 10/7, 3/2 and 5/3, related to phases like brushite, octocalcium phosphate, whitlockite, defective apatite and hydroxyapatite respectively can be important. Th...
متن کاملAssessment of In Situ Immobilization of Lead (Pb) and Arsenic (As) in Contaminated Soils with Phosphate and Iron: Solubility and Bioaccessibility
The effect of in situ immobilization of lead (Pb) and arsenic (As) in soil with respectively phosphate and iron is well recognized. However, studies on combined Pb and As-contaminated soil are fewer, and assessment of the effectiveness of the immobilization on mobility and bioaccessibility is also necessary. In this study, a Pb and As-contaminated soil was collected from an abandoned lead/zinc ...
