Drug - eluting stent coatings Review

چکیده
Over the past decade, drug-eluting stents (DES) have greatly transformed the field of interventional cardiology. Generally, three components are included in a DES system: a metal stent platform, a drug carrier or so called ‘stent coating’ and a drug. As such, stent coating plays an important role in the performance of DES. This article will review the evolution of stent coatings and their role in the development of restenosis and thrombosis.

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent
Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...
متن کاملNext-generation drug-eluting stents in coronary artery disease: focus on everolimus-eluting stent (Xience V®)
Percutaneous coronary revascularization has been a mainstay in the management of coronary artery disease since its introduction in the late 1970s. Bare-metal stents and, more recently, first-generation drug-eluting stents (DES), such as sirolimus-eluting (Cypher) and paclitaxel-eluting stents (Taxus), have further improved results of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by improving early r...
متن کاملCoated stents for the prevention of restenosis: Part II.
This is the second part of a 2-part article that reviews the literature on coated stents and their effects on in-stent restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Part I of this review discussed the pathophysiology of in-stent restenosis, specific stent coatings, and animal studies investigating coated stents. Part II discusses nonrandomized studies and clinical trials in humans....
متن کاملIn vivo evaluation of biocompatible intravascular stents coated by inkjet printing
Inkjet–printing technology was used to apply biodegradable and biocompatible polymeric coatings of poly(D, L lactide) with the antiproliferative drugs simvastatin (SMV) and paclitaxel (PCX) on coronary metal stents. A piezoelectric dispenser applied coating patterns of very fine droplets (300 xL) and ink jetting was optimized to develop uniform, accurate and reproducible coatings of high yields...
متن کاملIn vitro and in vivo characterization of novel biodegradable polymers for application as drug-eluting stent coatings.
We have used a series of in vitro and in vivo tests to assess the suitability of two new degradable polymers for application as coatings for drug-eluting stents. The first is a family of urethane-linked multi-block copolymers (MBCP) that comprise blocks of lactide, glycolide, epsilon-caprolactone and/or poly(ethylene glycol) chain-extended with 1,4-butanediisocyanate (SynBiosys polymers). The s...
