چکیده
One of the most relevant European R&D&d initiatives focusing on Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) is the CIUDEN Carbon Capture and Storage Integral project, supported by the Spanish Government through the Foundation Ciudad de la Energia (CIUDEN). CIUDEN is a public institution created by the Spanish Administration in 2006 and fully conceived for collaborative research, development and demonstration of efficient, cost effective and reliable CCUS and advanced CCT. The Technology Development Centre for CO2 Capture (es.CO2), located in Cubillos del Sil (NW Spain), incorporates advanced equipment for the development of oxycombustion technologies, namely: • Fuel preparation system. • Circulating fluidized bed boiler (CFB up to 30 MWth). • Pulverized coal boiler (PC – up to 20 MWth). • Flue gas cleaning equipment: o Cyclones o Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) unit for NOx abattement o Bag filter o System for collection, transport and storage of solids and ashes • Flue gas recirculation (FRG) and oxidants preparation systems. • CO2 compression and purification unit (CPU) • CO2 transport test rig • Auxiliary service systems (oxygen, compressed air, LNG as auxiliary fuel, raw water, demineralised water, cooling water, CO2 as inert fluid, etc)

Co-firing Performance of a Retrofitted Oxy-Combustor burning Coal/Biomass Blends: Experimental and Simulation Study
Oxy-fuel combustion is a clean coal technology based on firing fuel in an enriched oxygen atmosphere to obtain a high CO2 concentration in the off-gases. This technology can be combined with the co-firing biomass and the use of blends of coal and biomass can compensate for the fact that the gas properties in the furnace in an oxycombustion process differ from the air-firing case (oxy-firing flu...
متن کاملExperimental Methodology for Estimation of Local Heat Fluxes and Burning Rates in Steady Laminar Boundary Layer Diffusion Flames
Modeling the realistic burning behavior of condensed-phase fuels has remained out of reach, in part because of an inability to resolve the complex interactions occurring at the interface between gas-phase flames and condensed-phase fuels. The current research provides a technique to explore the dynamic relationship between a combustible condensed fuel surface and gas-phase flames in laminar bou...
متن کاملOnline Mass Flow Prediction in CFB Boilers
Fuel feeding and inhomogeneity of fuel typically cause process fluctuations in the circulating fluidized bed (CFB) process. If control systems fail to compensate for the fluctuations, the whole plant will suffer from fluctuations that are reinforced by the closed-loop controls. This phenomenon causes a reduction of efficiency and lifetime of process components. Therefore, domain experts are int...
متن کاملDevelopment of Methane and Nitrous Oxide Emission Factors for the Biomass Fired Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion Power Plant
This study makes use of this distinction to analyze the exhaust gas concentration and fuel of the circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler that mainly uses wood biomass, and to develop the emission factors of Methane (CH(4)), Nitrous oxide (N(2)O). The fuels used as energy sources in the subject working sites are Wood Chip Fuel (WCF), RDF and Refused Plastic Fuel (RPF) of which heating values are...
متن کاملEmission characteristics of co-combustion of sewage sludge with olive cake and lignite coal in a circulating fluidized bed.
In this study, a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) of 125 mm diameter and 1800mm height was used to find the combustion characteristics of sewage sludge (SS) produced in Turkey. Sludge + olive cake, and sludge + lignite coal mixtures were burned separately. Various sludge-to-lignite coal and sludge-to-olive cake ratios (5/95, 10/90, 15/85, 20/80) were tried. On-line concentrations of major compon...
