چکیده
302 This chapter gives a detailed description of the adsorbents manufactured by MACHEREY-NAGEL for coating of TLC plates. Especially for quantitative investigations, however, we recommend our ready-to-use layers with these adsorbents, since production of high-quality homogeneous layers for reproducible separations requires intense practical experience in coating techniques, which today is not available in many laboratories. MACHEREY-NAGEL has 35 years of experience in the coating of TLC plates and sheets. For selection of an adsorbent one considers the properties of the compounds to be separated: first the solubility of sample compounds – including accompanying substances, which are not of interest – i.e. whether they are hydrophilic (water soluble) or hydrophobic (water insoluble). When the solution properties are evaluated, check whether they react basic, acid or neutral. Finally consider, whether the compounds can chemically react with the adsorbent or with the eluent. Based on these considerations we recommend the following adsorbents:

متن کاملDetermination of carotenes by thin-layer chromatography.
The carotenoids of yellow, red and tangerine tomato fruits were separated and identified by thin-layer chromatography (TLC). β-carotene is extracted with a mixture content hexan and acetone. The various systems of adsorbents and solvents for TLC of carote and tomato carotenes were examined, and it was revealed that the most suitable TLC system for separation and identification was silica gel pl...

متن کاملEmerging technologies in extracorporeal treatment: focus on adsorption.
As an extracorporeal technique for blood purification, haemoadsorption was introduced in the early 1960s along with other physico-chemical methods. The problem of poor biocompatibility of uncoated adsorbents was resolved by coating adsorbent granules with haemocompatible membranes. Use of coated adsorbents instead of uncoated ones reduces the efficiency of haemoperfusion. As a result, for many ...

842 Journal of Chemical Education • Vol. 84 No. 5 May 2007 • www.JCE.DivCHED.org Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) is often used as a qualitative method. It can determine the number of components in a mixture, verify the identity of substances, monitor the progress of a reaction, or ascertain the effectiveness of a purification. Since TLC is so easy and practical, many chemists frequently use TLC...
