چکیده

This paper reports the application of an evidential reasoning approach to design selection of retro-fit options for complex engineering products. The particular selection problem investigated in this paper is initially modelled by means of techno-economic analysis and may be viewed as a multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problem with a hierarchical structure of attributes which may be measured for each design option using numerical values or subjective judgements with uncertainty. In this paper the evaluation model is discussed at first. Techniques for articulating original evaluation data are also explored. The evidential reasoning approach is then summarised which has been developed on the basis of decision theory and the Dempster-Shafer theory in artificial intelligence. A real world design selection problem involving the retro-fitting of a typical short sea ferry is then examined in detail using the approach.

Comprehensive Decision Modeling of Reverse Logistics System: A Multi-criteria Decision Making Model by using Hybrid Evidential Reasoning Approach and TOPSIS (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In the last two decades, product recovery systems have received increasing attention due to several reasons such as new governmental regulations and economic advantages. One of the most important activities of these systems is to assign returned products to suitable reverse manufacturing alternatives. Uncertainty of returned products in terms of quantity, quality, and time complicates the decis...

On the evidential reasoning algorithm for multiple attribute decision analysis under uncertainty

In multiple attribute decision analysis (MADA), one often needs to deal with both numerical data and qualitative information with uncertainty. It is essential to properly represent and use uncertain information to conduct rational decision analysis. Based on a multilevel evaluation framework, an evidential reasoning (ER) approach has been developed for supporting such decision analysis, the ker...

The Evidential Reasoning Approach for Multiple Decision Analysis Using Normal Cloud Model

In this paper, normal cloud model and evidential reasoning (E-R) approach is used in multiple attribute decision analysis (MADA) problems. Different attributes Belief function are represented by cloud model interval. Using cloud model generating algorithm, belief degree interval is obtained without numerical computation. In addition, it is reasonable and it accords with human’s mind. Evidential...

An Evidential Reasoning Approach for Multiple- Attribute Decision Making with Uncertainty

A new evidential reasoning based approach is proposed that may be used to deal with uncertain decision knowledge in multiple-attribute decision making (MADM) problems with both quantitative and qualitative attributes. This approach is based on an evaluation analysis model and the evidence combination rule of the Dempster-Shafer theory. It is akin to a preference modeling approach, comprising an...

A Safety-Cost Based Design-Decision Support Framework Using Fuzzy Evidential Reasoning Approach

This paper illustrates a subjective safety-cost based design-decision support framework using fuzzy logic and evidential reasoning approaches. The framework is divided into three parts. The first one is for safety analysis and synthesis including fuzzy rule-based safety estimation using the fuzzy rule-based evidential reasoning (FRB-ER) approach, as well as the safety synthesis using the eviden...
