چکیده

For ground-to-air and air-to-air communications, clouds form a main element of the communication channel. In wireless optical communications, clouds induce temporal and spatial dispersion, causing power loss and bandwidth constraints; critical parameters for reliable communication system design. In this paper, we focus on the temporal dispersion induced by the clouds, and provide a statistical estimate of the available bandwidth for cloud obscured channels based on a two year observation period for the continental United States.

Multirate RZ Communications for Dispersive Wireless Optical Channels

Free Space Optical Communications through cloud-obscured channels suffer from severe degradations due to multiscattering, which induces delay spread in the received signal. The delay spread of FSO channel can vary considerably according to channel conditions, varying from nanoseconds to microseconds for clear and cloudy channel, respectively. In this paper, we present the use of return-to-zero ...

Modeling of RF Waves in Free Space Optical Communication System Under Gamma-Gamma Turbulent Channel Effect

In this paper, an enhancement design of communication system using optical radio frequency (RF) waves in free space optical communication (FSO) system is presented. To our knowledge, it is the first time that the effect of Gamma-Gamma turbulent channel model on the performance of the proposed system is analyzed and simulated. To obtain an optical communication system with good performance and h...

Cloud-Free Satellite Image Mosaics with Regression Trees and Histogram Matching

Cloud-free optical satellite imagery simplifies remote sensing, but land-cover phenology limits existing solutions to persistent cloudiness to compositing temporally resolute, spatially coarser imagery. Here, a new strategy for developing cloud-free imagery at finer resolution permits simple automatic change detection. The strategy uses regression trees to predict pixel values underneath clouds...

Incremental adaptive networks implemented by free space optical (FSO) communication

The aim of this paper is to fully analyze the effects of free space optical (FSO) communication links on the estimation performance of the adaptive incremental networks. The FSO links in this paper are described with two turbulence models namely the Log-normal and Gamma-Gamma distributions. In order to investigate the impact of these models we produced the link coefficients using these distribu...

Purification and Fractionation of Carbon Dots using pH-controlled Cloud Point Extraction Technique

In this work, we describe a simple, green and general procedure for the purification and fractionation of carbon dots (CDs). CDs coated with oxygen-containing functional groups were synthesized by thermal pyrolysis of citric acid. The product of the reaction was first Purified and then fractionated into two distinct kinds of CDs (f4 and f1) using pH-controlled cloud point extraction (CPE) techn...
