Late, heparin-induced bleeding after retrograde arterial catheterization.

چکیده
soon after catheterization in the other two. After 3 or more days of heparin therapy, serious bleeding developed at the site of percutaneous catheter entry. The timing and incidence of this complication are in marked contrast to experience with this procedure in individuals who did not receive heparin. Preliminary experience is presented from right and left heart catheterizations in patients whose prothrombin-proconvertin times were allowed to remain in or near the therapeutic range. No hemorrhagic complications were observed.

Successful embolectomy in a femoral artery thrombosis caused by femoral artery catheterization in a infant.
In infants, the most common cause of femoral artery is thrombosis and iatrogenic arterial injuries usually occur after femoral artery catheterization procedures. Management of this complication includes heparin infusion, thrombolytic agents, interventional radiologic procedures, surgical thrombectomy and by-pass surgery. Signs of arterial thrombosis developed after femoral artery catheterizatio...
متن کاملThe use of heparinization to prevent arterial thrombosis after percutaneous cardiac catheterization in children.
Thrombosis at the site of arterial puncture is a common and serious complication of percutaneous cardiac catheterization in children. A double-blind study was therefore designed to test the efficacy of heparin administered during catheterization in reducing this complication. One hundred and sixty-one unselected children over one year of age were studied. Prior to catheterization, the pulse amp...

متن کاملRequirement of heparin for arterial and venous thrombolysis with recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator.
The effect of concomitant intravenous (IV) heparin (200 U/kg bolus, followed by 100 U/kg/h) on the efficacy of arterial and venous thrombolysis with IV recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA; 0.5 mg/kg over 1 hour) was investigated in a combined femoral arterial and venous thrombosis model in the dog. The arterial model consisted of a high-grade stenosis, endothelial damage, and a...
متن کاملIntravenous magnesium in experimental stent thrombosis in swine.
We investigated the effects of magnesium on acute platelet-dependent stent thrombosis in an ex vivo porcine arteriovenous shunt model of high-shear blood flow. Control nitinol stents were expanded to 2 mm in diameter in a tubular perfusion chamber interposed in the shunt and exposed to flowing arterial blood at a shear rate of 2100 s(-1) for 20 minutes (n=156 perfusion runs in 10 swine). Animal...
