Vertical anisotropy of hydraulic conductivity in the fissured layer of hard - rock aquifers due to the geological structure of weathering profiles

چکیده
Pumping tests carried out in the fissured layer of a granitic hard-rock aquifer, interpreted at the observation wells by means of the analytical solution of Neuman and at the pumping wells using that one of Gringarten show the vertical anisotropy of this layer of the aquifer; the horizontal permeability being clearly and systematically higher than the vertical permeability. These results perfectly agree with the geological observations, the fissured layer of the weathered granite profile showing the existence of many sub-horizontal fractures. It confirms dominating role, within the fissured layer, of the permeability of fractures due to the weathering process over that one of fissures with a tectonic origin.

Determination of Principal Permeabilities in Two-Dimensional Fissured Rocks Using Permeability Circle (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Among the many parameters affecting the design of hydraulic structures on fissured rocks are orientation of principal permeability axes and degree of anisotropy of fissured rocks. Geological explorations rarely provide this type of information. If at all the information is available, methods employed are computationally cumbersome and inefficient. A new concept of simple equations and geometric...

Chang 8 oil deposit, developed in Hohe and Jihe oil fields at the southern Yi-Shan Slop of Ordos Basin, is regarded as a kind of typical sand reservoir formation with super-low porosity, poor permeability, strong anisotropy as well as locally natural faults and fractures. The previous studies believed that matrix reservoir has a good permeability, whereas fracture reservoir has a reverse manner...
متن کاملUse of hydraulic tests at different scales to characterize fracture network properties in the weathered - fractured layer of a hard rock aquifer
The hydrodynamic properties of the weathered-fractured layer of a hard-rock pilot watershed in a granitic terrain are characterized using hydraulic tests at different scales. The interpretation of numerous slug tests leads to characterize the statistical distribution of local permeabilities in the wells. The application of flowmeter profiles during injection tests determines the vertical distri...

متن کاملTheory of Dipole Flow in Uniform Anisotropic Aquifers
A theory of dipole flow is developed to model flow induced by a vertical circulation well consisting of injection and extraction chambers in a single borehole. Included in the theory are an analytical description of the kinematic flow structure around a vertical circulation well and the drawdown in the well chambers. Using Stokes' stream function, simple criteria are derived to determine the re...
